7-9 with the worst PG rotation in the NBA. Lower if injury to JJ or BL.

I voted "7 to 9" as well.

I understand not wanting to raise our hopes too much, but the current situation with the Nets is almost too good to be true.  When we made the deal for Pierce and Garnet, it seemed like the Nets could have been set up to be a contender in the East well beyond when our unprotected draft picks would take effect.

They had a strong, but aging core, with a multi-billionaire owner who was set on spending big bucks to keep them at the top.

Now the time has come for the Nets to pay the piper, and it looks like that team is in somewhat of a shambles.

There's still a chance they could claw their way into the playoffs in the weak East, but rooting for the Nets to lose sure beats rooting for the Celtics to lose.

Bring on the tank threads . . . for the Nets!!!

The nets squeak into the playoffs next year.

Any reasoning behind this?
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

4-6 only because I don't think the C's would really be lucky enough to get a top 3 from them.

no way that team makes the playoffs in the East.  all 7 teams that finished ahead of them in the East last year will do the same thing next year (even though I don't think the C's make the playoffs themselves but will chase for that 8th spot).  Miami got a lot better, Indy gets George back.  Orlando has some young players that look like they've improved quite a bit in summer league.  NY has similar talent levels as Brooklyn and they have a better health track record.

I could seriously see the Nets finishing with the second worst record in the East only ahead of Philly.

I voted 7-9

Deron was already slowly declining and coming off the bench last year. I believe Jack started over him (can someone correct me over this?). If Brook Lopez stay relatively healthy next year, I do see them competing for a playoff spot. I think they can be in the 8 - 10 range, if they make the playoffs at the 8th spot, then the pick will be anywhere in the 10-12 range. (we made playoffs and we got the 16th pick in the 7th spot).

If they barely missed it, then that pick is where I think the Hornet's pick would be

If they make the playoffs, their pick will automatically fall outside the top fourteen, regardless of overall record.

If, for example, four teams in the West miss the playoffs with a better record than the eighth place Eastern conference team, those teams that missed the playoffs will still be in the lottery.

I (conservatively) put 7-9 assuming the Nets don't suffer any major injuries to their top players. I feel a lot better about this pick's prospects than I did about the 2014 Nets or 2015 Clippers picks. :)

7-11.

I didn't vote because I can't decide where I think it'll fall. The only reason I didn't put 3-5 is because I think there will be teams actively trying to lose games by December.

3-6.

They are too old, too bad at PG, and way too injury prone for it not to be at least a top 8 pick. They have NO DEPTH AT ALL. The teams that tanked and missed the playoffs last season will be better and that means Brooklyn is out of luck. I also think that someone (cough cough) might have ankle problems this season.

Best case scenario is 3rd pick. Worst case is 8th. Personally, I am betting on 4th or 5th. That Nets pick is GOLD.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

I voted 7-9 because they still have some talent. What we need to hope for is that things go very wrong for them. It really could happen. What is there to get excited about there? Who on that team sees themselves ever winning a title as a Net? I think Smart thinks he will win once as a Celtic. Big difference. I'm 50-50 on it. 7-9 seems safe but they could be really bad or they could just have a lucky ping pong ball. Imagne that, they miss the playoffs by a game and then get the top pick.

Mid-lottery. That 6-10 range.
