I'd also ask the question how much better Greg Monroe is than David Lee. Both are known as scorers and rebounders, neither are defenders. But with Lee, Danny gets a one year rental rather than committing a mega long term deal.

I'm as big believe in Danny as anyone and like the things he did, but believe me - if Monroe was interested in coming here...we'd have him.

Oh and Monroe is a major upgrade over Lee, even before you take upside into account.

Is he really? Based on what?

Monroe put up 15 and 10 last year. He isn't a rim protector and he clearly isn't a transformative talent along the lines of LeBron/Durant/Duncan etc., since clearly he couldn't even carry Detroit to the playoffs in the lowly East.

Prior to last year, David Lee was a near 20-10 player (or sometimes a 20-10 player) for the previous 5 years.  Like Monroe, he also isn't a rim protector and he also hasn't been able to carry a team like a transformative superstar.

So when you consider that Ainge didn't have to commit 4 year to Lee at max dollars, I think a case can be made that Ainge may have been smarter to land Lee than Monroe.

Draft I would have went Dekker, Hunter, Mickey and Dakari. Then trade Turner for a future protected pick from likely low playoff team (so a projected 24-30 pick). Resign just Jerekbo. Maybe move IT to Toronto for a pair of unprotected 1st when they lost LW. Trade AB to OKC for Payne. Develop our players 1st and foremost. Pass on Lee and Amir. Looking to land Lab or Simmons next year so might move Sully for best deal available.

Well maybe... or maybe not. I make a mental note of your suggestions and will revisit them in 6-7 months. now it's too early to say.

Personally, I wanted us to go for more eurotalents (Vezenkov, Hernangomez etc) but IMO Danny made reasonably good choices. We'll have to wait to see.

One concern I want to flag is that DA is very hesitant to draft non-americans. I can see the behind rational this, and in any case, most of the good non-american talents are now making the decision to play in American colleges (Giannis' brothers, Mitoglou, Thon Maker, the list is long...). Still, I'd like to see us getting more active on this front.

Why commit 33 mill to a good but average big? I can see that you can move his contract if necessary, but what I really like about the DLee and Amir signings is we get immediate help this year without making any commitment for next year.

Plus, I'm a Greek, Koufos get's lots of press over here, his character is not nice - and that's putting it nicely. Not someone I'd like to see in a green uniform.

Joseph is an interesting idea indeed. But if the Rozier gamble works we can have a decent PG on a rookie contract instead of 30 mill. Then again, the gamble might not work and Joseph would look like a wasted opportunity. We'll see.

The only change I would make to the offseason would be to take Justin Anderson over Rozier.  I'm not down on Rozier, but I think Anderson would have fit well and filled a need at SF, splitting time with Crowder.  Preserving flexibility for the right opportunity is key.  As much as I want to see a fireworks trade, it just hasn't been there.  If Dallas and New Jersey both falter next year, we could have two lottery picks in the same year, with a chance to move to the top of the draft or get a significant player or two.  There will be high expectations on Ainge to make something happen in 2016.  But I can't fault his so far.

Sure I really think Raps and Thunder make those deals. IT is great bang for the buck and improves that bench better than what they lost. Also he is signed a few years. I think that is well worth the price. A Rap pick would be around 20 range that is no big deal. AB helps Thunder keep pace with the stacked West and gives them the perfect piece they are currently missing. Why not give up a mid first to secure a much better shot at winning going into Durant's last year.
