I think it is not all gloom and doom.   Sully can produce at that weight, he did last year.   But as I have been saying he is not a guy you build around for whatever reason.  That rumored Al Horford trade is looking better and better.

I posted video of him in July, it is clear he did not lose weight and he was slow in those games.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dljz3iXcG6E

But it is possible he might be in better shape folks.   Fitness level is what I mean, not body fat.  Here is one of the vids, they are not playing hard.   Ainge covered his butt this year by getting Lee and Amir.  Up this point in their careers Lee has been a better pro than Sully, so we have someone to plug in, if worst fears are realized.

99.9% of people can't even lose weight when it means getting better looking girls.

Why would someone lose weight when it's the difference between making $100mil and $110mil throughout their career?

As an NBA player he's probably already getting the hottest women he could possibly get.

or making what he has already bc of an injury that might end his career. What has he made, 6m? I'm sure that's gone.

People get injured all the time but when you know your weight and laziness caused yours, you need to make a change that could save your career.

A lot of guys don't work hard before they come to the NBA b/c they can coast on natural ability, they just realize that it won't work against the greatest players in the world, then they work harder (mature) to stay in the league!
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I think there's a good chance he never reaches the $100 million mark because he won't be in the league beyond his next contract unless he's making minimum salary.  Somebody will probably give him significant money next year, but if his weight issues continue he'll miss significant time and then he'll be playing for the minimum.

Well he at least looks slimmer now then he did in that video you posted.

“You can’t really say,” responded Sullinger when asked if he met his physical goals this summer. “I haven’t played five-on-five in like three weeks, so you never know. There is a difference from being in the best shape that you can be practice-wise, and then there’s game shape. We’ll see when that happens. As far as me being where I want to be — I’m not there yet — but I’m closer than you would imagine.”

Not what I wanted to hear.

I just don't see how he could work as hard as he claims and his body not change .

He still looks like he has never seen a weight room in his life.

I think he tried and wound up busting the doors down at The DQ  .

It ll be a lot easier to walk into that weight room at 23 than it will be at 40 when he weight s 350 pounds. And nobody but your doctor cares. Actors change their bodies all the time for ONE movie part, Sully can't stop eating even if you pay him 50 million dollars.

Maybe people are underestimating how out of shape he was in the first place?

Thought the same.

Also, the fact that he won't say how much weight he lost, makes me think he only lost 15 pounds.

I do have to say he does look slimmer then the video of him in July that celtics4ever posted. So there is some hope he might lose more weight if he continues his mini diet.

I agree. He was easily close to 300 in July.

Not answering the question, either. He pretty clearly hasn't met the weight or fitness goals the C's set for him, so if those assigned goals were Sully's own goals at all he flat out hasn't met them. He's already pre-emptively giving excuses for not being in "game shape" for practice today either. With the exception of a couple of cameo game appearances, losing weight has been his primary goal since his stress fracture seven months ago. If this is what he looks like after months under Lucas's control, he's likely to go over 300 after the holidays again this year.

Yeah, pretty much the Big Baby trajectory.

I don't know what you guys are seeing, but he certainly has lost quite a bit of weight.

I agree.   I suspect the stress fracture was due to weight.  That might even make a guy  cautious to work out very hard, not that he was diehard workout guy anyway.

I do not think he has lied about working out harder than he ever has, as I do not see him being a workout guy period.

The quite part is debatable, some weight but quite a bit?  The arms and shoulders seem slimmer. his head is thinner because of the hair cut.  But quite a bit is a stretch.

This is why I wanted him working out with a nutritionist and personal trainer, not Jon Lucas, who has done good for addicts.  Maybe he got Sully to change his lifestyle, and that will take longer.   Maybe he is a guy when the going gets tough he quits but I really do not see him as that kind of guy after the CLE series as he was bright spot that showed some backbone.

I do think that his fitness and weight issues may be chronic, though, and this coupled with his poor athletic base, can't jump or run well definitely limits his potential or trade value.

If he wins the starter job, then I think it will be better for him.   If he does not after what he perceives as a summer of hard work, then I think he may regress or quit on us.   I could be wrong but I think whom ever wins the job should play be it him, Lee or say, a Mickey.

The guy can play some even when at obese levels.   But I think he has his work cut out for him and this makes it more likely Ainge moves him if he gets a taker.   I also think the young man, just locked himself into weight clause contracts for the duration of his career.

The problem is Sully puts on weight as the season moves on. He needs continual supervision as to his eating habits, and I'm sure the Celtic organization is not going to babysit Sully at the team buffet table.
Did he loose weight? yeah, maybe 20 lbs. or so. It will return quickly. He'll be huffing and puffing and cheating on D in no time at all.

Sully is what he is, playing extended quality minutes on both side of the ball will always be a problem. You'll get some quality minutes from him, he is talented. Just not extended minutes.

Is he the PF of the Celtic future, on a team contending in the style CBS and DA want? I don't see it.
