  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
With a healthy Dwight that Houston team can win the Western Conference.
Huge addition for relatively nothing.
Doc should go after Prigioni for the Clippers bench.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I think it just goes to show there isn't a huge demand out there for PGs right now, even borderline all-star ones. Also, that it's easier to trade for a veteran guy when your team is already established. It's harder if you're a rebuilding team that isn't really ready to contend anytime soon.
Houston is maybe the only team in the league where this risk makes sense.  For everyone else, even the very low asking price isn't worth the headache associated with rehabbing Lawson's life and career.

With John Lucas being in Houston, It should help Lawson with his problmes. I will for one will be pulling for him. I hope Denver makes more moves.
"People look at players, watch them dribble between their legs and they say, 'There's a superstar.'  Well John Havlicek is a superstar, and most of the others are figments of writers' imagination."

I read on the front page that Denver liked Houston's offer more than LAL's. Exactly how bad could LA's offer have been that it was worse than the dreck that Houston sent out?

What a horrible trade by the Nuggets.

They got very little in return

What did you expect them to get for unloading a $25 million headache?

It's called addition by subtraction. It's boom or bust for the Rockets.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/13291992/houston-rockets-daryl-morey-addresses-ty-lawson-trade

Quote
Morey said he consulted with leading scorer James Harden and starting center Dwight Howard regarding the deal, and each gave their blessing. Harden, who is close with Lawson, was the key, considering he handled the ball a team-leading 76.9 percent of the time. The Rockets expect that number to decrease with Lawson on the floor. When the 2014-15 season ended, Harden said the team was in need of another playmaker in the backcourt to ease the burden on him.

Thought that was interesting. Never seen that type of stat before.

How does Houston keep landing trades like this. They got Harden and Lawson for basically scraps.

Lawsons value couldn't have been lower and OKC is cheap. That's why.

Daryl Morey is probably a top-5 GM as well.

Every time another player gets traded, or signs a contract, I revise upward my opinion of Danny's abilities as a GM.

I mean, compare that trash heap to what we got for Rondo.

Rondo didn't have two DUIs in a six-month span, though. That's what largely killed Lawson's value. Ainge wouldn't have done much better if he had Lawson in the same situation and was trying to trade him.

Rondo had his own issues though - a dubious ACL surgery recovery, and seemingly half-hearted effort on the court.

Not sure which is worse.

Moreys a great GM but these deals were no brainers for him. Billy King would have made both deals too if he ran the Rockets, he just would have offered more picks/young value and probably taken back more salary.
