They have a bench!!!
Not sure how it will produce, but at least they finally have one.
Good luck to Pierce. As for the other players, well I don't care about all of you guys. I know they fell the same way about me ;D

How in the world can Josh Smith go for the veteran's minimum when Amir Johnson goes for $12MM.   Are we sure this isn't the fat UCLA center Joshua Smith?

Pretty much because Josh Smith is already being paid $12 million not to play for the Pistons.  Most of what he makes just gets subtracted from what the Pistons owe, so not much reason to sign for more than the minimum.
I forgot about that, but you're right. Whatever he's getting paid by the Clippers is in addition to what Detroit is paying him to have left. Pretty sweet deal.

I want to see a Clippers small-ball unit with Smith and Griffin as the bigs. They're both super athletes and pretty good rebounders and I don't think most centers can stay in front of either of those guys. Could be interesting.

On the one hand, Smith massively upgrades the Clips bench talent.  On the other hand, Atlanta was happy to be rid of him and Detroit literally paid him millions to NOT play for them.  It's hard to believe Smith is going to stop being the same knucklehead he's been his whole career.

TP for the find. Wow...

I thought the Rockets were definitely going to re-sign him after how well he played for them and his friendship with Dwight Howard. Oh wait that's right I'm wrong all the time.

Paul/Griffin/Jordan/Pierce/Redick/Smith/Crawford/Stephenson/Johnson/Rivers.

This puts them in the same level with Spurs and Warriors and above Thunder/Grizzlies/Rockets, but that's if Doc can keep the egos in check.

I want to say these two words but I'll get in trouble if I do so I'll be PG.

Holy poop. The Clippers will pwn this season.

The Spurs added the best free agent available and signed David West who is better than Smith. I don't think they will beat San Antonio next year

True to the first part, but at the same time:

1) Tim Duncan is another year older - it's only a matter of time before he drops off in a huge way, could easily be this season

2) Tony Parker is another year older - he's already declining, and his game relies heavily on his quickness - once that fades he's going to get really bad really quickly

3) Ginobili has fallen off a lot..he's basically a 3rd string player now.

If anything Aldridge just makes up for all of those 'losses' moreso than anything.

Secondly, David West is NOT better than Josh Smith.  Smith is just a 'special' player that has to be utilised in a certain way in order to be effective.  He can play PF, and he can probably even spend some time at C - he absolutely should not EVER be played at the SF spot.  Maybe for 3 or 4 spot minutes, but that's about it.

If you look at his past career, he's usually played pretty well statistically when he's been used primarily as a PF.  Very poorly as a SF.

In the right situation, Smith is a better player than West, especially at this point in their careers.

Bunch of old-timers, knuckleheads, and floppers. I'll give him Doc a "C" for effort, but they're still second-round fodders, maybe even first if they have to face a healthy Kevin Durant/Russell Westbrook.

Never doubt a playoff team with Pierce on it.

This...

Paul Pierce is the missing ingredient for that team, in a huge way.  They deperately needed a guy who can hit clutch buckets - CP3 and BG can carry the offensive load for the duration of the game, but Griffin isn't clutch and there's been too much pressure on Paul to always be the one having to take the shot.  Pierce relieves a lot of pressure and gives them another playmaker too.

I suspect that the signings of Pierce and Smith in LAC are going to prove to be two of the most impact moves of the season.

No more excuses, now.

The pressure is on.

After DeAndre's About Face, Lance, PP34 and the assortment of players they now have, the Clips need to AT LEAST get out of the west.

No more excuses.

I like this for the Clips.

As for the Spurs, Kawhi's continued development has been underrated and helped the Spurs offset Parker, Duncan and Ginobili's decline over the past few years. Aldridge extends their window and should make them much more formidable.

Pierce also seems like the perfect personality for that team. There are so many reports about Chris Paul rubbing Blake and Deandre the wrong way. Pierce, at this stage of his career, might be the perfect guy to bridge the gap between a manical competitor like Paul and guys who like to enjoy what they're doing. Pierce seems to have found that balance in the second half of his career and could be a huge piece for that team, emotionally.

Another integral piece to an already Championship Contender. This is an elite team.

Pierce alone, in addition to keeping last year's core intact, is a crucial piece to LAC's Championship aspirations. Pierce provides the on-court leadership, supplemental scoring, timely shots, and competent defense that this past year's LAC desperately needed. He would not have allowed that Rockets collapse that took place last year; and would've given GSW a run for their money (GM Doc ruined last season by signing Hawes instead).

Smith adds versatility and depth on this roster; he doesn't have to move the needle, he just has to maintain the leads that the starting unit provides while Blake and/or DeAndre are resting. He can sign a minimum salary Center as a place filler and that team will still dominate.

Other than Jordan committing to DAL in the first place, Doc couldn't have done a better job at managing this roster considering the circumstances. His only issue will be integrating Stephenson, Pierce, Johnson, and Smith; and keeping 3 of the 4 happy sitting out the 4th quarter in close games (2 of the 4 if Doc chooses to sit Reddick).
