Completely hypothetical scenario, and I guess it pertains more to people who actually want to trade for Gallinari.

What if Denver comes out and says Gallinari will only be traded with Ty Lawson. It's been rumored that Denver wants to cut ties with Lawson following his second DUI, perhaps adding Gallinari will spark a GM's motivation to make a move.

The combined salaries are around *correction* 24mill. I'd assume it would be a package of Bradley + Sully+ Turner to make it happen.

Making a potential team of

Lawson/Thomas
Smart/Hunter/Young
Gallo/Crowder/PJ
Lee/KO/Mickey
Amir/Zeller

Obviously Ty Lawson isn't really your stereotypical "Stevens Guy" but its an intriguing lineup to say the least.

Combined $24 mil.

That's a lot to match, and the C's don't have a whole lot of filler contract money now that Wallace is gone. I don't think it's feasible to take both without doing serious damage to the roster.

I'm not great with understanding the entire cap metrics. But i thought we were like 8 mill under?
Wouldn't Bradley+Sully+Turner+Perry do it for us?

Once upon a time we were that far under, but not now.

With no TPE's to fit either Gallo or Lawson into the money has to get pretty close.

Bradley, Turner, Olynyk**, Jones, and Young only come to 17.1M

You'd basically HAVE to include Bradley & Thomas and 2 of Sullinger/Olynyk/Jones/Turner

I don't know how much sense that makes to do.

-----------

** I don't know why folks would rather deal Sullinger than Olynyk. Both have their flaws, but Sullinger can get a shot on his own (on the block) and rebound -- skills that will always have their place and you can never have too much of, IMO.

Unless of course you add Lee into the Mix.

Nah. Gallo is a nice player when healthy, but he's not so perfect a fit for Stevens with his defensive deficiencies that he's worth the number of players we'd have to give up to match salaries in that deal. Plus he's expiring and could easily leave at the end of the season unless we pay up.

Guess I don't fall under the category of wanting him that badly, and on top of that I'm pretty wary about Lawson's personal issues and how he would affect the locker room and culture the team is trying to build. Candid comments from Chauncey Billups regarding the guy weren't that positive either. Pass.

Assuming he can better himself and the team has faith in that, then *maybe*. It depends on many things... First, he's a bit redundant with IT. If we were going to be making a massive trade with Bradley or another guard going out, then sure. Also if the Cs wanted to run a 2 PG system with Lawson & Smart and thought that was a good idea, then absolutely. Lawson is a good player who's controlled for a few more years. Problem is that PG is very crowded for us.

I really don't get the fascination with Gallinari.  He's not a difference maker.  He plays on average about 60 games per year.

So he is similar to Sully in that regard too.

No. It would be too complicated and, frankly, Gallo isn't worth it....

Nope. Sully is actually a pretty useful player when on the court. Gallo is a chucker.

how much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck was chris bosh?
