Burke's ceiling is Lillard's floor.

They also 'snubbed' Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker..  I don't think they considered last years draft class. Which i think is fine. You should give players who have a little more experience and are a little more proven a chance.

Certain exceptions can be made when a player like Anthony Davis enters the league. But there was no one of the caliber in that draft class.

TP for applying logic and being sensible.

If you watched the summer league game yesterday you'd realize Smart's shooting has a LOOOOONG way to go.  His shot is so high and heavy and he misses short, long, left, right.  It's pretty much random when he hoists it up.

You gave him a TP for saying a Canadian player was also snubbed then too? Wiggins isn't american.

LOL Green Logic,

tear down a young player like Burke for shooting 4-13 on most nights

uplift a role player like Smart in to superstar status and perennial all star

hilarious

In similar minutes Burke had higher PPG, APG, and FT%
Smart had a higher Rebound and Steals %

Field Goal % and 3 point % were nearly identical.

So if Burke is terrible, what does that make Smart?

They're both bad offensive players. That's where the comparison ends.

One looks like the next Tony Allen defensively and the other makes Damian Lillard look like Gary Payton.

If you're shooting 4-13 most nights you should probably be good at something other than scoring. Smart is, Burke isn't.

Trey Burke with elite defense.

Burke is fine.

Marcus Smart is fine but is limited.

You cannot tear down Burke and leave Marcus alone.

Marcus has major flaws, and his potential is limited to his defense.

That is false because Burke is a better offensive player. His potential is much higher than Smart's prayer 3 pointers.

maybe Smart was already invited? wasn't he a member of the practice group team USA played against last summer? iirc he also was a key member of the U18 and U21 teams in years past.

Please.

If it turns out his ankle is the reason he wasn't able to get to the rim/finish he's a perennial all-star. Trey Burke will never be anything more than a backup PG on a decent team.

Burke really is not much better of an offensive player.

Both are bad shooters. Difference is Burke shoots it 2x as much as Smart.

Marcus's 3 pointers go in the basket more often than Trey Burke's. To paraphrase the earlier comment, if Marcus's are prayers, what does that make Burke's?
