After the PJ3 acquisition, the C's have $6 million left in cap space, including cap holds for Rozier and Hunter, and one of Pressey or Babb's non-guaranteed deal (which is needed to be shipped to Golden State in the Lee deal), but not the other one.

Is there anything else you'd like done with that room?  I'm sure Danny will try to spend it all.  Perhaps another salary dump from a team in tax land?  Currently the following teams are in tax territory:

Golden State
OKC
Cleveland
Miami
Chicago
Clippers

Are they any cheaper expiring (or team option) contracts you'd take on from those teams to give a shot at the roster, a la PJ3?  I'm talking reasonable options, and not Harrison Barnes.

For instance, Jamal Crawford is rumored to be available from the Clippers to save some cash.  It wouldn't shock me if Tony Snell were available from Chicago, or Shabazz Napier from Miami.  Any other players we should keep an eye on out there?

If MIA is desperate to dump salary, I'd ask about Chris Anderson or Josh McRoberts for depth at C.

But I'd prefer Ainge leverage that cap space in trade (e.g., send $4-5 mil in outgoing salaries for a $10-11 mil guy coming back).

Anderson might be available, and I saw a mention of the C's kicking the tires on him a couple weeks ago, although that was before the signing of Johnson and trade for Lee.  McRoberts I'm not much for, as he's got a couple years left on his deal, and I'm in favor of keeping cap space for next season.  Ainge has sold me on staying flexible.

Yeah, I'd love to use the space taking on extra cap in getting a dime for a couple of quarters. I'm sure Ainge would like that, too, if such a deal is out there.

Novak and Birdman are both available if OKC and MIA want to send us cash and 2nds to use our cap.

As I've mentioned in this thread of mine, I think some room will be allocated to negotiate a  3-year deal with Mickey, I estimate it might be in the $800,000 range for the first year or so.

In a potential Danilo trade, I had calculated that with just Turner going out from us, we could fit him and stay under the cap (and then complete the Lee/Crowder trade), with this move that's off the table. But that was a bit meaningless, since it was going to take a bit more than that I figure to get the trade done... unless Denver was really valuing the money saved and would be satisfied with something from our picks arsenal. So more players would need to get involved now.

If that goes through, it puts importance to our non-guaranteed contracts of Pressy or Babb since once we use enough of our cap space (or if we go through a Danilo trade, depending on who gets moved and who stays), it'll mean that once the Lee trade goes through we'll be over the cap and will no longer be able to send just Wallace in the trade but one of those non-guarantees.

By default there has to be a bit of roster consolidation though. If I was a betting man, I'd say the victims will be between Turner, Young, and Sullinger... though I'm hoping it's Olynyk instead of Sullinger.

I think Ainge might be liking what he's seeing in Jonathan Holmes as well I'd think.

So we'll see what happens I guess.

Also, we might have some more flexibility as it stands until this trade gets finalized (it isn't yet right?).

Was shooting from the hip on that one. Thought McBob had just one year left. I too would like to keep the powder dry for next year.

I'd be cool with picking up Snell from Chicago, though there's only so many young guys with no hope of playing time that you can carry on one team.

Any additional move with that cap space would probably have to go along with another move that consolidates the roster, e.g. a 3-for-1 for Gallo, or something of that nature.

I'm on board for a Gallo trade that doesn't require sending out Bradley. Turner, whichever big man Ainge feels he can part with, and whichever of Babb/Pressey isn't going to GSW for Lee, plus draft considerations is fine with me.

Don't want Gallo not a good enough defender and low fg%

Add to that he's chronically injured.

Whats next? 5 or 6 mil in cap room?

I think we will still have 5 or 6 mil to play with in cap room before the Lee trade is made. Who needs savings and could give us a pick to take a player?

It seems like there has to be something big. Ok maybe not big like a star but big as in multiple players.

It's been discussed but I'd really like to see Ainge expand the Lee trade to include the Knicks. Send Lee to NY and whomever Phil wants out of Turner, Sully, Young, and KO and of course some picks. I realize a main problem with this (besides that Phil might really just want to keep Melo) is that the Knicks don't own their own pick next summer. My hope is that this won't matter. If for whatever reason Phil doesn't want Melo, he might think its no big deal to trade him because he will have money to spend on free agents and someone else will want to play for him because he is such a legend.
