We have 4 players out of the top 34 from the 2012 draft.

Zeller 17
Sully 21
PJ 28
Crowder 34

And 4 out of the top 45 in the 2015 draft.

Rozier - 16
Hunter - 28
Mickey - 33
Thornton - 45

It's psychedelic, man!!

We've also had Austin Rivers (#10) and of course Fab Melo (#22).  I wonder how many more of that class will grace the Celtics roster, even for a brief moment.  I guess we also had Kris Joseph (#51) twice.

Another pointless trade. We already have a team filled with role players. Hopefully, there is a method to Ainge's madness.

We got a low risk high reward prospect a second rounder and cash for nothing...How is that pointless? Regardless of how miniscule it is we gain cap space and two assets for nothing. Theres no reason not to do this deal.

First, we don't gain cap space. We're using cap space to trade for him. See tweet below. Second, we already have a bunch of role players. Jones has been in the league for three years, we know what he is. I'd rather keep holmes personally. I just think it's a pointless trade that won't add to anything. We already have a bunch of Perry Jones on this team and nobody values them as an asset. If they did, we'd been able to trade in the top 10, or be in the Cousins sweepstakes. Which we weren't by the way according to all the reports. Kings preferred the Lakers assets. So again, yeah, this is a pointless trade unless other things happen.

Since BOS did not make the GSW trade or sign Crowder yet, Perry Jones is taken into cap space. Smart move by BOS to take advantage of space

You have an extremely narrow vision.

You're very optimistic and unrealistic.

I know you are but what am I.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

How is Perry Jones knees and motor ? Anybody follow okc?

Those two are his biggest negatives to date.

He projects best at small forward, where we are not deep at all.

I love this trade. I like this more than the David Lee trade, honestly. I can't believe this is to get a 2nd round pick. I think Danny has every intention of keeping him. This is not Chris Babb, for heaven's sake.

You like this trade more than David Lee ?

That's ridiculous.

I do because I feel he fulfills a greater need than David Lee at the small forward position, and that he is much younger with tremendous upside. Not a knock on Lee, who is a more valuable player today. I am thinking about upside and need.

So maybe I am not so ridiculous.

So you like a trade that brings in a player that could be cut come training camp over acquiring a player that might make the all star team next February ?

Both are good trades.  It's not a competition so why are you arguing about it?!?!?

This.

I'm a Thunder fan. A common refrain around the the fan community is that Perry Jones is elite at existing on a basketball court and not much else.

I do hope there is another trade yet, but I am not optimistic about it being a big one.

Getting a free second rounder is always good and if we can upgrade the 15th spot on our roster even better.

It seems like people who don't like this trade (or the Lee trade) are upset that the C's didn't do something better. We all wish a blockbuster to put us back into contention would happen, but just because a trade isn't a blockbuster doesn't mean it's a bad trade.

If your next door neighbor wins the lottery shortly after you get a great new job, it doesn't diminish your job.

DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

So...he's an upgrade over James Young?

Lol I feel like the next step is that you guys just start name calling.

BTW, not sure what is not to like about this deal. We absorbed his contract into cap space we probably wouldn't have otherwise used. They traded us cash in the deal, presumably enough to pay Jones' salary if we do cut him in training camp. For doing this we got a future second round pick.

We literally gave up nothing, if the return is more than nothing than it was a good trade.

Yeah, if he pans out, it's a great trade. But this is the types of trades the Celtics have been doing. I don't see getting Perry Jones will get them somewhere. He's not a star and they already have a bunch of role players.

Like I said, I think something will happen trade wise to make sense of this. Of course people keep ignoring that part.

I think if they could have traded for a star to begin with, they would have. Don't you? Can't hit home runs with every trade. Like you said, all we have are role players. Who is going to trade their star, or someone who "moves the needle" for role players? I think this puts us in a little better position now to make certain moves. Getting depth at the 3 is key and can only help.

To quote someone from before, even if Jones amounts to nothing, we got a free second rounder out of it. What's not to like?..  I'm with you though as far as thinking there will be more moves. I'd count on it.

Question. Can the Celtics trade PJII with other players or can they only trade him alone after this becomes official?

Easily. Jones is a great warm body, but he's shown some skill as a utility defender capable of guarding pretty much every single position.

There's a few on here that act like they know what there talking about.  Most of the time they have no clue. Just ignore them. It's  a good acquisition.

Teams under the salary cap can aggregate (combine) the salaries of recently acquired players without having to wait the required 60 days that teams over the salary cap do.
