After 7 games or whatever it's been, I think he reminds me a lot of John Wall.
A little less speed and explosion, slightly less athletic in the full court/fast break game (although still insanely quick), and can't finish as well in transition as Wall, but better in the half court and more understanding in the pick and roll and running an offense.
He's got better mechanics than wall as well on his shot.
He has very good ball control and can stop and probe the paint from the 3 point line with amazing control while keeping his head up.
If he became 50% of John Wall I'd be super happy with him as a #16 pick.
Could be a very good point guard.
I think Rozier is nothing like Wall. Let's take a look.
John Wall:- Elite vision and passing
- Insanely good penetrator
- Bad 3 point shooter
- Top 5 handles in the NBA
Terry Rozier:- Needs a lot of work on his passing
- Can't penetrate without tripping over himself or running straight into defender
- Average to maybe above average 3 point shooter
- Can only run in a straight line with the ball in his hands
Reggie Jackson and Eric Bledsoe are still the best comparisons for Rozier at this point. I don't think Rozier will ever be an average passer (and that's OK because Unicorn PGs are just like Unicorn Centers) but maybe he can get better at driving.
