I think a team only has as good a reputation as its current culture.

And if that culture involves being proud of wearing the jersey because of its history, then yes, it still matters.

But only if you buy into the culture.

This is a really interesting point I hadn't thought about. Might not matter to prospective FAs, but it might matter a lot to guys on the roster.

Never really thought about it that way.
