Which wing do you want the Celtics to trade for most?

Great forum question.  We need a super solid 3 man.  That could really solidify the ball club and was the reason Danny was willing to mortgage our entire trove of picks to get him.  We have a lot of interchangeable 4-5 and 1-2 combos, but no truly solid starting 3 man.  Crowder is good, but he'd be outstanding off the bench.  Only ET can truly fit the bill as a serviceable 3 on our club.  My pick would be Harrison Barnes.  He's solid in all areas and has potential All-Star skills.  He'd definitely have a shot at All Star in the East.  My second choice would be Derozan, but a close second.  I'd give up AB, Hunter and pick for him.

I'd happily offer Dallas their first round pick and salary filler for Parsons. He's capable of being a 2nd/3rd option on a really good team.

If the C's rolled out Smart - Bradley - Parsons - Lee - Amir with Thomas, Olynyk, Zeller, Crowder off the bench then they're making noise in the East.

Parsons would be amazing on this team but I haven't heard anything about Dallas willing to deal him.

Rudy would be another player I'd love to have at the 3.

I think with our assets we need to target teams who no longer see themselves viable.   Other teams simply do not value our assets as much as the fans here.

I think from the list only two are realistic options based on information made to the public:
DeRozan
Gallo

Doubt Parsons is an option if the nets are signing Williams, I don't see them going in tank mode if they are trying to add strong players.
Barnes is a pipe dream
I doubt Gay or Evans are available.
The rest just pass.

DeRozan would have my vote just by process of elimination. If all were truly available i'd go Rudy Gay.

Demar Derozan by a fairly wide margin. Toronto seems like a strong trade partner, Bradley, Olynyk picks for Derozan works really well for both teams.

Toronto could use some depth at the 4 and another defender to add to their already stout backcourt. Considering they just dropped 4/$30 on fellow Canadian Corey Joseph, it stands to reason that they might look to bring in KO as well.

We get the primary scoring option to draw attention away Isiah and down the road carve up the lanes opened up by RJ Hunter. Might be the final piece to draw in a big man like Horford coming up in the coming years.

1) Even at best, we are a low echelon playoff team with no shot at a title. Thus, upgrading at the 3 isn't really going to change that. So sure, if DA can make a move that makes sense, he should. But he shouldn't overpay or ruin the team's future financial flexibility to do so.

2) The C's already have Turner and Crowder to man the 3. On top of that, like it or not, Stevens will likely trot out a fair amount of 3 guard lineups given that Smart, Thomas, Bradley, and Rozier could all command more minutes than the 2 guard spots can provide. And that isn't even factoring in any impact Young, Hunter, or Jerbenko could have there.

So yes, I'd like a 3, but only if the right one comes along at the right price. Otherwise, I'd rather wait till the deadline or even next summer to address the issue.

^^Well said. I'm in agreement. If the right wing comes along at the right price, then it makes sense. But it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to trade a bunch of assets for a one year rental of someone (most of the guys listed will be FAs next summer), just for the sake of "cleaning up and balancing" the roster.

C's need to get better 3pt shooters especially if they are going live there as much as last year.
Of the players listed, Parson's seems to be the most consistent 3pt shooter at around 37%.
DeRozan is not a good 3pt shooter. His D is better than average but  not significantly better than Parson's.

(A) If we're going to aim to be a middle of the road also-ran, let's do it right and actually try to balance out the depth chart a little bit.  Watching a team muddle through an up and down season and then get killed in the first round is bad enough without having to watch the coach go through crazy lineup contortions just to get the best players on the floor.

Trading for a decent wing and clearing up some of the clutter should not require compromising future flexibility too much.  Perhaps Danny will have to combine some assets to get less than he'd prefer, but some of these guys are going to wither on the vine anyway if he doesn't.

(B) Neither Turner nor Crowder is a good starting option at the 3.  Indeed, Turner is a poor option.  Crowder is best as a multi-position backup.

I have always thought that Demarr played well against us.  He can score but he is not necessarily a shooter.  He is not a very good three point marksman.  He looks them at a Sullyesque 27%.  I wonder if that will steer Ainge away from him?
