The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday they have acquired a future Second Round draft pick from the L.A. Lakers in exchange for Roy Hibbert. ?I?d like to thank Roy for all his contributions during his time in Indiana,? said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. ?He was a two-time NBA All-Star, and we appreciate everything he did for our franchise both on and off the court.?

His value has dropped that much , really?

I know he is not a great rebounder, but he protects the paint and can give you 10-15 ppg .

Wish Danny got him if all it cost was a 2nd rounder, strange?

on an expiring contract too

Either Lakers got away with another highway robbery involving a big man, or Hibbert just sucks.

I don't know how they get these big guys for basically nothing. Is there something in the rules that say the Lakers get a freebie every year? Crazy.

Wow...

2nd rounder ....

Hibbert has ALOT of demons to fight ......head issues

Don't know if playin for Kobe is going to help him or hurt ...lot of pressure in LA

He seems over whelmed by the whole NBA experience

It's more of them absorbing the massive contract. He might be worth a first rounder if he got paid like 9m a year. Also that trade exception generated is quite nice.

So which was more detrimental to an ECF contender: Rondo's ACL or George's broken leg?

The Pacers literally just sold Roy Hibbert to the Lakers, eh? That's incredible.

Really? That Celtics team was already on its way out. The Pacers could have (but probably not) won the east if George stayed healthy.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I was actually thinking more short term than that, but you're right: in the multi-seasonal sense George's injury was way worse.

You're not looking at trades the right way.

Anyways, I'm sure Hibbert and Kobe are going to get along swimmingly.

The cost was unbelievable, but he just doesn't fit on our team right now.

Wow. That's great value for a 2nd rounder! Don't we have a million of those? Couldn't we have offered twice of what LA was offering? Lol

makes you think, he could've definitely been had for a mere 2nd rounder perhaps late 1st rounder...

perhaps Danny wasn't interested because he was very inconsistent last year?
