Who's gonna trade for Nowitzki now?

How about Washington --  Beal + Nene + picks for Dirk.

KD joins Wall and Dirk in Washington next season.

Mavs can't tank with Dirk and Carlisle. They gotta be both jettisoned for tanking to work.

I think Dirks defense is plenty able to be the center of a bad team.

So, good luck to Doc Rivers ever completing a trade with another team again, right?  I mean, he's got to get blackballed by other GMs for doing this.

I can't say how other GMs will react, but the big thing a lot of people are ignoring is that DeAndre contacted Doc and the Clippers to say he regretted it and wanted to come back.  It wasn't the Clippers hounding him since he made his decision.  And as Woj tweeted, they weren't even in his house convincing him or actually trying to keep Cuban out.  The matter was settled quickly and they were just hanging out.

The big fallout will actually be on the league because I think of the situation that a team can be put in thinking it has a player then having to wait so long to actually sign them.

It doesn't matter.  Doc is a GM as well as a coach and other GMs will look at this and think, "This guy is not going to honor a deal I make with him if it benefits him not to honor it.  This guy doesn't think that these agreements need to be respected."

The time to do it for the Mavs is now.  They're toast.  Time to rebuild and get some value for Dirk while you still can.  Make sure you get your pick this year.  Don't waste another year winning 30-45 games while the cupboard gets even more bare.

The player agreed to a deal and then went back on it, not Doc.  Maybe a GM thinks that... I guess... but he's wrong.  How wouldn't it matter?  GMs are going to keep doing what's best for them and if there is anything to come from this it will be a change to how free agency works, which I think is the right move anyways.

I mean look, I can't read minds, but I think if I were in the position of other GMs around the league I'd feel like Doc had an obligation not to meet with Deandre once he had agreed to sign with another team.

Because I'm sure players have second thoughts all the time.  And I really don't buy that Deandre chose to sign with the Mavs and then just randomly started reaching out to the Clippers himself to express his regrets.

So you think reporters are lying about this?  He is close with the team that he just played for.  It isn't random or hard to believe in any way.

I am captain obvious! But: this bodes well for the Top 7 protected 2016 pick's chances of turning into a late lottery pick!

I'm sure Dallas will probably argue that if they didn't have the moratorium he would either be signed with them or back with the Clips leaving them a chance to go after someone else if they had to.

Cuban is probably ready to light the league up! I can imagine him also making DJ's life hell by getting advertisers to go in other directions. I can see an all out behind the scenes blackballing LOL.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I have no idea what's going to happen here, but I feel like there could be significant fall-out.  A lot of plans were based on Jordan's... I keep bringing up Biyombo as an example.  If you're his agent and you check out the NBA landscape for centers and realize that Dallas already has Jordan, Lakers already have Hibbert... options are dwindling and you best take money from the first team that offers (4 mil from Toronto), there's a real possibility that you could have gotten more elsewhere, but backing out of your Toronto agreement might still be frowned on.  All sorts of free agent signings and trades may need to be reconsidered now.

When you start messing with multi million dollar contracts and billion dollar companies, people tend to get upset.

Hou makes a good trading partner to get Dirk

Hou sends: Montejunas, Jones , pick and filler
Dal sends: Dirk

Dallas get young pieces to help the tank

For Houston Dirk would be the perfect fit next to Howard and Harden. Howard covers for him defensively and Dirk becomes the # 2 option after Hardern

PG: Beverly
SG: Harden
SF: Ariza
PF:Dirk
 C: Howard

that team could contend for a title, but doubt Cuban would send him to a team in the same state.

How about AB and Sully for Parsons

PG: Smart        / IT               / Rozier
SG: Crowder    / Turner         / Hunter
SF: Parsons     / Jerebko        / Young
PF: Lee            / KO               / Mickey
 C: Amir           / Zeller

That team has 50 win potential in the east

That's actually a really interesting team. A tad small with Anir at the 5, but pretty big elsewhere. Good balance of offense and defense.
