That's how you use cap space as a rebuilding team, folks.
Another TP. Thats what I wanted us to do, like last year with Zeller and cavs pick.

Same here.  :-\

The odds that Philly finishes with a worse draft pick than Sacramento this year is rather low.  It's a nice prize for Philly and all, but if the Kings are able to use it to sign Monta Ellis and/or Rondo, there's just very little way Philly has a chance to pass them this year.  Next year, if that's when Philly finally decides it's time to win again, then maybe, although they just agreed with this trade to take on $9 million of dead money, so it's not clear that 2016 is their time either.

While I wanted Stauskas, I'm quite glad the Celtics didn't do this deal.  I don't care about this year's salary space much, but I wouldn't at this point take on $9 million for next year.
Picks swaps happen after the lottery so the Kings don't have to finish worse than the Sixers for the Sixers to benefit.  If a Kings ping pong ball wins the lottery (or top 3) in 2016 or 2017, the Sixers get their pick.

Derek Bodner point out that Sixers fans would have been happy to get Embiid and Stauskas from the 2014 draft.  Now in addition to those 2 players, they also have Dario Saric, the Sixers own 2017 1st rounder back, the 2018 Kings pick (top 10 protected), the right to swap picks with the Kings in 2016 and 2017 and an additional 2nd rounder.

This is such a heist for Phily. By February when the Kings have the 6th worst record in the league and Cousins is forcing his way to another team those pick swaps will look mighty tasty. 2017 draft has 3 future NBA superstars in the class, and the Sixers just increased their odds of guaranteeing one lands in Phily.

I had been hoping the Celtics could land the Kings 2017 1st as a facilitator of a 3 way trade with Denver but Hinkie took that dream away. I bet by the end of this season that pick swap looks like one of the most valuable draft assets in the league (I say Kings win less than 25 games in 2016-17)
TP. I feel the same way. I also wish we had more picks in 2017, I like Dennis Smith Jr, Bam Bam, and Udoka Azabuke (but he could be older) , they're guys ranked better than them but those guys stand out to me. Especially Dennis Smith, Ive been following him since last summer.

Agreed. If Ainge is able to do a deal this year that swaps one of our unprotected 16s for an unprotected '17 I'd be fine with that. It would help with our roster management numbers as well as give more swings of the bat in a talent laden draft.

What I think some are missing about this from the 76ers perspective is there is almost no down side. They were never planning to sign FAs - so the loss of cap space is fairly meaningless. But Stauskas could be good. And those pick swaps could be tremendous.

I think the Kings have officially taken the mantle of worst run franchise in the NBA now.   Solid move for Philly.

If Cousins demands a trade in near future, that pick swap could turn in Philly's favour.

I'm fairly sure he's already demanded a trade, and it doesn't seem to matter.  If Sac gets two of Ellis, Rondo, and Matthews, they should be competitive enough to keep Cousins from quitting.

let's wait and see what they do with the cap space.  If they end up putting together a nice team with the room, it may work out.

As we saw last year in Dallas, Rondo + Ellis isn't going to work.

I shudder to think of the spacing issues in a Rondo / Ellis / Gay / WCS / Boogie lineup.

They're giving up a lot to essentially sign rondo? Ellis and rondo would be dumb of the Kings. Rudy Gay and cousins are already there. Wes Matthews is the guy they need if we're talking he or Ellis.

It's pretty hard not to. The Kings seem to have managed to channel the GMing abilities of Billy King and Isaiah Thomas into their own new incompetent GM Frankenstein. Mix in a coach who like to be combative with his star players and you have quite the stew.

I won't be shocked if there is something called the "Ranedive Rule" by 2020.

That comes dangerously close to Ainge's violation of the Nets in the KG/Pierce deal.  We got more value but the Nets also got something besides cap space.
