It's amazing to me how irrational and short sighted that alot of people on these boards are.

Is that really confusing?"Big Moves" = The New FireworksIt's just another attempt at fan appeasement.Or it's just the truth? They tried to make trades and deals multiple times now. Takes two to tango. We saw what Ainge was trying to do in the draft (make more than fair offers) but he isn't going to get fleeced. Same goes for Free Agency. Is this really hard to understand? Patience is what it's about. Deals don't fall out of the sky.Unbelievable the pouting around here. Do you guys think Ainge doesn't understand? He constantly is talking about getting top level talent. He is waiting for his chance. He's already done it before!

With the additions of Jerebko and Johnson, we don't even have enough money to even offer a max contract. Depending on what Jae Crowder gets, matching him might wrap up this entire offseason. So you're basically swapping Bass for Johnson and punting on the season.Funny how people can see the same picture and conclude something completely different. The Johnson and Jerebko signings are a great relief to me. I was really worried Danny was going to sign a couple of 2nd tier FAs to long-term max(ish) deals. Instead, he signs two decent players who'll provide important dimensions to the current team on short-term deals with a non-guarantee in year 2. I think it's brilliant. Yes -- ABSOLUTELY punting on the upcoming season. This is another growth year, not a year for contention (we're only 2 years into the re-build). In 2015-16 a good half-dozen Celtics will increase their trade value while we look at being a 5-9 seed (depending on how the wind blows) in the East. Meanwhile Brooklyn falters and Danny uses an improved set of assets with great salary flexibility and a ton of cap space to make serious moves at trade deadline or in summer of '16.This is Danny being brilliant and patient.

How long will you give him? That's the question. Would you be ok being in flux 3 more years hoping a disgruntled star hits the market or some such? Personally I wouldn't because I don't know that any of these young players will have time to develop when guys like Amir Johnson are starting in front of them.
I really want the Celtics to improve their talent, too. One thing I think it is important to keep in mind about Harris, though, is that his current team has apparently decided that they don't think he is worth the max. That is interesting because the Magic are also in needed of a boost in talent, in particular offensive talent. I think the Magic front office is regarded generally as being pretty savvy, and they have had a long look at Harris. I know they just drafted Herzonja to play essentially the same position, but the Spaniard is still an unknown quantity and certainly will take time to develop. Plus, you know, they just drafted someone to play the essentially the same position. Harris is young, showing improvement, and displaying some potentially elite offensive skills. But the Magic's evaluation of him scares me.
It's amazing to me how irrational and short sighted that alot of people on these boards are.Not making a big signing would absolutely be the right thing to do. We are not going to overpay for marginal talent just because we can. We are trying to build a team to one day win a championship and not one that will be a perennial 5th-8th seed.I'm glad that our GM is not the people on these boards. It has made me realize how even dedicated fans are not too smart. Think about a rebuild..it is a 3-5 year plan, not a 2 year plan. We need to be more patient and not go crazy like we are right now.You really think Tobias Harris is the answer for us? Please....
I'm fine with Ainge being patient and not leveraging all of the assets of the team unless he thinks the guy he's getting will be really good.My issue is, if you're not going to make some moves to steer this thing upward, what is the point of maintaining the course right back to the same place again -- the middle? I don't understand that.We just spent a week agonizing over Ainge's inability to move up to take a prospect he really liked because we finished outside of the top 10 with very little to show for it. Now Ainge is making moves that apparently will put us in the same predicament a year from now. Is free agency going to go so much better next year? Is another team going to want to trade us a star for a fist-full of middling assets next year?
