Have been told the #Magic will not match a max offer to Tobias Harris, so the market value has been set.  #Celtics

There have been indication that Boston could be the front runner, but was told that Harris' camp has made no decisions yet

Washburn is a bit of hit and miss for me... hate when local guys are the ones to break these types of news. But it would be awesome if that's true, and I hope Ainge goes full tilt after him.

Normally I'd agree, but hiring Scott Skiles, drafting Hezonja and offering Millsap the max all seem like solid indications to me that they don't want Harris back for the money he'll command.

Before I get too excited, is there any source that shows Danny's interest regarding Harris?
And most importantly, does he believe in this guy to throw 15mil at him?

I don't really get why, but if so, I agree, offer the max and get it done.  Just hope Harris doesn't prefer a different destination e.g. Atlanta.

If Atlanta has the money, that'd be a more attractive situation for Harris.

Gotta get it done. Guy can score and is very young. Good body, and has great work ethic.

What would be the max offer for him?

Is it $15 million per year?

I don't know what to think about this move.  We finally have some cap room to offer a max deal and we end up with Tobias Harris?!?!  I know his value has been debated to death on other threads but I just don't think he's a max guy.  He's a very good player and I wouldn't mind seeing him sign with the C's, but just not at the max.
Then again, if the alternative is to get a player like Brewer for a lot of money, then I would rather have Harris at the max.

Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Giving max money to non-max players is a mistake.  I know he is young, and has decent numbers, but what impact does he have on winning?

Yep, Danny's caught in a tormenting catch 22. Most likely, if Atlanta loses Millsap, they'll go after Harris - especially after losing Carroll. If they get Millsap and withdraw their interest in Harris, Orlando is suddenly a greater threat to match.

It's going to take a lot of luck to grab a guy who isn't even an All-Star yet.

If Harris gets a max deal from the Celtics and makes roughly $18 million in Year 3, that will only account for 16.5-percent of the team's salary cap. That's simply not much for a player of his caliber, one that is just 22 years old and still on the rise, and one that fills a huge gap in Boston's roster.
