Giving max money to non-max players is a mistake.  I know he is young, and has decent numbers, but what impact does he have on winning?

i agree.  i don't know why you over pay just because you can.

I don't really get why, but if so, I agree, offer the max and get it done.  Just hope Harris doesn't prefer a different destination e.g. Atlanta.

If Atlanta has the money, that'd be a more attractive situation for Harris.

Depends if he prioritizes winning more (at least in the short term) or being the #1 offensive option.

He's only 22....

Think about that when analyzing his contract.

we need some talent here before we can possibly sign a top tier free agent . Harris definitely helps on the court and in attracting free agents . Plus he is another trade chip if a bigger fish becomes available at the trade deadline, or next season .

Tobias Harris received a number of calls/offers in the last 24 hours, his camp feel confident he'll have several offer sheets to choose from

There have been indication that Boston could be the front runner, but was told that Harris' camp has made no decisions yet

Can someone explain to me what is so great about this dude?

He seems like another player that will get the job done like Avery Bradley, but someone we will eventually want to upgrade. I guess it's a decent signing but not someone I'm excited to get.

First thing is he's young only 22 years old. He scores in multiple ways. Efficient scorer at that. Great body to play the 3 or the 4 in a small lineup. Oh and we need someone to be able to score other than our 5'9 point guard.

Did i see somewhere that we have to wait to give him an offer sheet? I know there is a period for restricted free agents for the other team to match. Is it possible to agree to terms with us at any time?

Technically nobody can sign anything until I believe the 9th.  But teams agree to deals all the time before then, as we've seen today.

It's a little trickier with RFAs because their teams can match within 72 hrs of the actual signing.  So Harris could agree to terms at any point, but nothing could be signed til next week, and he wouldn't officially be ours until 3 days after that.

Either offer him the max, or stall and get no one of above-average talent in free agency.

That's just how free agency is done in the Boston Celtics these days.

There is some pretty interesting and compelling information in that article. A 22 YO SF with great character/work ethic who can score in a variety of ways is available and all it will take to get him is money. I hope Danny does it!

Kyler did not say the Celtics are the front runners that's a misrepresentation.
