First, who said anything about Green? We're talking Middleton, Harris, and Monroe. If the Celtics can't even get those guys, then that is worrisome. And I think the team you're looking to compare the Celtics situation is the Rockets trading for Harden. Not LA signing being able to pick and choose free agents based on geography or Cleveland being super lucky.

It's back in the thread.  And, no, I'm not looking to compare the Celtics to the Rockets.  Any team can make a trade if that team has the ammo.

Think about it like this.  The celtics have to wait on kevin love.  If there is any chance of us gettin ghim we have to wait.  Why would we sign monroe and kill our chances at kevin love and eat up all that cap space if we have a shot at kevin love.  That would be very shortsighted.

Fans in genereal and the media just want a splash and to sign a big name.  That's not how it works.
Our team is full of players who are somewhere between low-end starters and high-end bench players. Adding anything less than a starting caliber player probably doesn't even improve the on court product.

If we sign eh players they should be reclamation projects an home run swings.

So when the celtics sign two crappy players who arent crappy are two just good roleplayers and i'm sitting here like hey kevin love.  And people are like monroe noooooooo he went to the knicks. I'll be saying the same things.

This is quite possible except it's kevin love's house.  We keep doing this he's going to want to come here.

I don't get it. How does signing role players this year help us get Kevin Love?

Wait do you mean this offseason or next? I'm so confused.

It is important. Very important that we make a tangible step forward on the court this year.

Bro, everyone wants Love, but there has been no indication he will sign with us. He hasn't even set up a meeting with us. Woj reported Cleveland are heavy favorites. You can't blame the rest of the people here for moving on.

Because they will leave cap space and we will continue getting better as a team and location for him to be the man here and build his legacy.

Why?  If this last draft proved anything, it proved that you're better off missing the playoffs than being a crap team that is nothing but a sacrificial lamb for the better squads.

you guys have it all wrong. If DA was doing what you thought he was he'd be doing that. He isn't. That's why.  Maybe if you watched teh team you root for instead of yourself and your own desires it would make more sense.

This is why and my whole point with the media and fans sometimes. They are so self absorbed they dont even see what the celtics are doing.

Because next year 30 teams will hvea cap room and I think we are good to have a hard time selling anyone on Boston if we are coming off a season where we just tread water or got worse.

If we want a FA we need to get better. If we sign a Monroe or Harris and maybe win the Atlantic then FAs might start to see Boston as a place where they could be the final piece.

WE need to find ways to get better without sacrificing our cap or our future.  That is the trick.  I tink this month the celtics will make very smart signings and kevin love might be here at the start of the season in a sign and trade.  It obviously depends though.  If he doesnt want to come here we have to find another way.
