9. The 76ers should trade Nerlens Noel and Robert Covington to Boston for Marcus Smart and James Young

An easy, need-based deal for both teams, who doubled up on what they'd done in last year's Draft with this year's Draft picks. The Sixers went for Jahlil Okafor instead of Emmanuel Mudiay -- taking the biggest upside, as they do every time -- while the Celtics went for two more guards in Terry Rozier and R.J. Hunter after taking Smart and Young in the first round last year.

Philly now has Okafor, Noel, Joel Embiid (admittedly, with seemingly serious foot issues) and Dario Saric (who will play one more year in Europe before coming over) in its frontcourt, but has a dearth of quality guards. Smart was up and down in his rookie season, but he'd immediately be the starter at the point in Philly, and Young would get minutes and an opportunity to show what he can do after being in the D League most of last season.

Meanwhile, Boston currently has the four guards it's drafted in the last two years, along with Isaiah Thomas and Bradley, with a less-than-imposing front line, and could certainly work Noel's rim protection into its rotation (though, to be fair, the Celtics' defense improved noticeably last season). Something has to give here. Both teams are way, way under the cap and none of the players involved here make any significant money, so each team could still hit free agency hard this summer and next.

Q-I'm originally from up in Boston and I'm a huge Celtics fan. A lot of people from back at home aren't too happy with the Draft last night, it's clear they were expecting something bigger. I might be the only New England native who feels pretty good after it, and fully expected the night to go as it did. I know Danny Ainge tried to move into the 9 or 10 spot to scoop up Justise Winslow, but I'm glad he didn't overpay for the sake of making a move. With that said, which free agent big (out of Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan) do you think we have the best chance of landing? It's clear that's what we're going to target on July 1st, so I'm interested. Maybe use that "godfather' type offer to pry Boogie from Sac-Town?

A-Out of that group, I'd say Love. But the Celtics will be in the mix for a lot of other guys, including Dallas' Al-Faroqu Aminu, who had a strong season with the Mavs last year on a one-year deal. Boston isn't going to just reach for the big names; there are a lot of good players who could help the Cs that wouldn't break the bank. And remember, Boston still has that monstrous $12.9 million traded player exception from the Rajon Rondo trade last December.

Based on team needs the trade makes sense. I'm just not sure I'm sold on Noel. His injury risks and attitude scare me a bit. It would be pretty cool to have a local guy on the team though and his strengths are exactly what this team needs.

Love is not coming here, at this point, it looks like THarris and hopefully Monroe. I don't see where Aminu plays, even if he is signed. That signing would put James Young so far back on the depth chart.

I could live with that trade idea.

I could live with that trade idea.

Yeah, with Monroe reportedly being very interested in NYK, I am not so sure we have many other options for big guys. I would love to have Noel, but would miss Smart and the potential of Young. We do need to consolidate the roster, though, and this seems like the most logical move.

Add a guy like Harris into the mix at SF and I would be pretty satisfied with our summer. I know very little about Rozier, but just watching the way he moves on the court gets me excited.

I wonder if they would take Rozier instead of Smart.  He seems more like a typical Philly guard, too.

I could live with that trade idea.
Yeah thats how I feel. I guess I would be fine with it but would prefer it didn't happen.

I know people are in love with Noel, but I don't think he will ever be a good offensive player, where I think Smart has a chance to be a much better one.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'm not going to be any more disappointed than I am right now if that happened.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

I am starting to get down on whats happening here. We seem to be linked to very few guys that can make a big difference right now. The only one I really like is Harris. Other than that i could see monroe picking NYK over us. I hope Danny pulls something off tomorrow night at midnight cause we need some help.

I increasingly get a sense that our realistic big man options may be Robin Lopez, Omer Asik or possibly Kosta Koufos.  They are rim protectors but would hopefully lead to an upgrade offensively at the 3 with the rumored Tobias Harris  or a deal for someone else out there

He average 10, 8 and almost 2BPG last year as a rookie.  I would do that trade although I don't like the idea of losing Young and Smart but if we could do it and keep our picks go for it.  Then sign either Harris or Aminu and go from there.

I'm not totally in love with that trade, but I also wouldn't be upset if it happened either.  I think Noel is closer to "a piece" than anything that's on our roster right now.

they would have to include a lot more in that package for that to work.  ;D
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
