The shirt thing is exaggerated, but probably reflects how me must be feeling right about now: "I thought I was going to the Lakers, and instead I get drafted by a team with two other starting centers.  This sucks."

And its a generic 76er jersey. If it was his actual jersey I wouldnt be able to breathe right now lol.

I'd like to see a full length image because I think he was probably just dropping the shirt onto a table rather than the ground as a lot of people are suggesting.

Be cool to get him on the Celts, but if we sign Monroe we get a similar skill set and player a bit more mature and don't have to send away Smart and picks we want to keep.

Monroe does it for me.

It is AMAZING how people can look at the same image and see different things, yet we wonder how the cops in Rodney King beating got acquitted though a video showed them beating the man mercilessly.

I know what I see here -- Okafor tossed the jersey down. You can draw your own conclusions for what he did, he may explain what he did, BUT THERE IS NO DOUBT WHAT HE DID.

Same, I initially had "Floor" on the thread title, but quickly amended it.

I'd love to read more into this video clip (so Ainge can maybe swipe Okafor...), and I couldn't agree more with Sketch5's comment here:

I've been saying Hinkie has been playing a close game of tanking to get better and running a team into the ground were players don't want to play there and GM's not going to respect him and give him crap offers for him being greedy taking 3 of the top big men on the last few years. 4 if you count Saric. I think if he would have gotten Mudiay or Winslow after missing out on Russel, it would have made sense needing to fill voids with young prospects in  a position out side of the 5 spot.

Spot on.

I thought the initial Noel-Holiday move was a reasonable gamble (a) because I thought Noel was the best player in that draft (b) PHI wasn't going anywhere in particular w/ Holiday and (c) they go an extra #1 pick along with the best player...  ( and since they seemed to have hoodwinked NOP on Holiday's health  :-\ ;D).

That said, there's a limit to the roster-razing that any team can endure without it having an effect IMO on the morale, drive and performance of players --- and it's attractiveness to FA's and rookies (who have less say obvs.)

BTW, The converse is why I was glad BOS made the playoffs this year even if they were swept and it *may* have cost them Winslow... ultimately our team will be better for it I believe. CBS can draw on the lessons learned, the team got to see who responded to the increased pressure, who didn't etc. Perhaps his being late to shootaround (IIRC?) is even part of why Smart is being rumored in trades... Zach Lowe and others talked about the value to the Warriors of going up against the Spurs 2 years ago for their title run. Why wouldn't there be some similar positive value for teh C's (even if we're nowhere near title contenders?)

Kawhi Leonard is a very good player, but if he'd spent the last 4 years on a bottomed out PHI team is he close to the player he is now?

Ultimately I think (and now actually kinda hope) that Hinkie will fail b/c the team will be a mess by the time he gets his "stars" to build around.

I've also never understood why -- with examples like HOU and ATL -- people make it an either/or proposition. To tank or compete. Teams are evolving things. The goal each year should be to keep adding talent and getting internal growth.

Agree with those saying this is the respect tanking gets you.

Not that it's all that, but I do think no one wants to be a part of this awful team and they have no pride or culture built whatsoever.

I don't know if this incident means anything but has anyone heard anything about the Sixere finally getting into the free agent market?  Are they planning to tank again next season?

Mike
It depends how you define tanking.  I expect they'll go after some good, young free agents but probably won't get any.  I wouldn't expect them to go after mediocre vets who won't do anything but get them a few meaningless victories.  Right now, my guess would be 25-28 wins for them.

Please they've got a more defined culture than at least a dozen teams, probably more.

They're a young team that plays hard, generates turnovers on an above average defense and runs the floor.

This pride and culture nonsense is so old. If you want to see a team with no pride look at Denver.

Jalil sounded like crap talking to the espn reporter after the lakers passed him and the 76ers took him. Then dropping of the jersey.

He is mad the wolves and lakers bypassed him.  Not sure what will happen next.

Can the celts offer something to grab him? Is danny interested?

Philly is a ticking time bomb, they got to the end of Noel's contract + 2 years to make something happen.
