Short clip, might be missing some context, nevertheless it looks quite weird particularly if you buy the premise of reports prior to the draft that Okafor's agent had let the 76ers know to not draft him if available.

Not sure, but the reaction from Richaun Holmes might be a bit telling.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
We can only dream, right?

I've been saying Hinkie has been playing a close game of tanking to get better and running a team into the ground were players don't want to play there and GM's not going to respect him and give him crap offers for him being greedy taking 3 of the top big men on the last few years. 4 if you count Saric. I think if he would have gotten Mudiay or Winslow after missing out on Russel, it would have made sense needing to fill voids with young prospects in  a position out side of the 5 spot.

I think Russels agent said he wouldn't even play for them. I'm hoping Okafor holds out of contracts, and I'm hoping the C's are one of the teams he'd want to get traded for. I just feel bad for who ever we have to send to them.

Come on DA, either a combo of Smart/AB/Tozier/Young/Sully/KO to start it off with and I'd be okay with the 2016 Brooklyn's pick unless anyone knows a player that is head and shoulders better than Okafor that we shouldn't us that pick yet.  Get a third team if needed, which it might. Maybe Minni?

Probably just doesn't like press conferences / posing for photos.

Could be, could be... but where's the fun in that?

I don't know, watch it, he looks like he's going to throw it down, the kid on the left, (Holmes I think?) gives him a look like "I can't believe he's going to do it." Which maybe Okafor said he was going to throw it down before hand.

But Okafor decides to gently drop in instead, keeping his head.

It could be nothing, but it sure doesn't, you don't throw jerseys to the ground because you don't like press conferences and you pics take, he picked the wrong gig then.

I don't know if this incident means anything but has anyone heard anything about the Sixere finally getting into the free agent market?  Are they planning to tank again next season?

I suggest you take a look at his reaction when he still thought he was going #1 and Minnesota won the Draft lottery. He did not like that either.

I understand that he is quite a talent and dropping the jersey seems to me an act of frustration on his part but come on, he has to be better than that. This is the NBA, the pinnacle of organized basketball, the premier league, the least he could do is to act professional in front of the media. Anyway, it's his loss anyway acting like a spoiled brat.

He knew going in that there was a chance that Philly would draft him despite his agent's bidding... Just the basics man - common decency, manners, courtesy and respect...

First of all, I think he just fold the jersey (it looks like he intend to throw it down) and then he throw it from 50cm. If it was intentional, I don't think it was unprofessional. There is nothing wrong about sending a message and stand on your believes as a teammate or professional player. I wish more players will act a bit like that, protesting against teams like Philly.
To me, being unprofessional would be to open your big mouth in the media about what you think of the team that recruit you.

Reading too much into this.  The shoot was over and maybe someone said "just leave the jerseys there".

This world of sound bites, video clips and pics leads to so much idle speculation and every manner of negative interpretation.  Obviously sometimes (maybe even most of the time) pejorative interpretations are correct -- but much of the time they are not.  It is OK to select the most benign interpretation of an event and go with that till you know otherwise.

I wouldn't use the word "drop".  He Gronked that jersey.  Hilarious.

The shirt thing is exaggerated, but probably reflects how me must be feeling right about now: "I thought I was going to the Lakers, and instead I get drafted by a team with two other starting centers.  This sucks."
