I hate players like Tobias Harris. He is so OVERRATED! People think hes so good because of the stats he puts up, but he was on the 5th worst team last season and he was playing along side a borderline all star in Nikola Vucevic and he had some other decent players like Oladipo and Payton. I really really hope we don't sign him.
I'd much rather have Harris than that moron Evan Turner. Plus Harris is a far better player than you are giving him credit for.
He is better than Evan Turner but hes definitely not worth 15 mil even with the new TV deal coming up imo. I think we should keep turner for now just because Marcus Smart isn't very good at running a team yet, but once he becomes more and more comfortable at point then I think it will be time to trade Turner.
Actually most people think he is extremely underrated. A 22 year old putting up 18 a game, who doesn't require the ball in his hands a ton, with position versatility, and with a high shooting percentage do not come along very often.
Please read this: http://www.basketballanalyticsbook.com/2015/05/06/the-nbas-most-underrated-player/
In addition his teammates rave about his work ethic which would rub off on our young players, I can't believe someone is saying he is not worth a max. He is clearly worth the max, the question is whether Orlando is really going to let him walk or not and is he really interested in Boston. He would be my first call at midnight when free agency begins, with Monroe being the next.
See people look at his stats and praise him saying hes the most underrated player in the NBA. If hes so good why can't he win games? Its not like hes on the Sixers, he actually has decent players on his team but he can't make the playoffs in the terrible Eastern Conference. I really hope we don't sign him because I hate players like him.
Did you read that article I posted? They didn't win because Harris was the 3rd/4th option when he should be the 1st/2nd option. He led the league in points per possession, he just did not get the ball enough, played in many systems the season alone.
I think they didn't win because they didn't have enough shooting around Harris to make his life easier that and they have no rim protection to back up a defense of young players who are prone to mistake.
That was a great article though. I'm not sure I agree with their logic on his defense though, from all I have watched of him he isn't very good. The mentioned several reasons he didn't have many defensive possessions against, but they didn't mention the reason I think is true. Since Harris was a good scorer but not a great defender they hid him on poor offensive players which is why the players he was guarding didn't shoot a ton.
This guy would be a great signing, he's currently 22 and averaged 17 ppg with good efficiency. The sky is the limit for him.
I agree that his age and offensive stats are encouraging, but his defense (or lack of it) is a concern. He's young but he's played 5 seasons in the NBA. If he hasn't figured out how to play defense yet, I'm not sure he's going to get much better at it.
Harris is only 15 months older then RJ Hunter and Hunter has played zone defense 85% of his life, does that scare you?
Harris had a 1.8 Defensive Win Sare this season and a 1.7 Defensive Win Share last season. You both are undervaluing his defense, he is average on defense but tries hard and makes it difficult for his opponents to receive a pass.
