And that's how it will be. The Celtics aren't getting another legend like they did with KG and the Big 3. Not that there are much legends currently to choose from.

25 years of mediocrity, get ready.

Wait...didn't everyone lose their flippin' minds because Ainge and company talked about making a move up in the draft?  Do you think anybody with the team is going to raise expectations on the free agent front?

Now, the looming rise in the cap is going to make it easier for teams to keep any player they want.  There are also teams that are going to be more attractive than Boston.  And people are stupid and players sometimes care about things besides winning.  By any basketball standard, Boston should be far more appealing than LA or NY but that might not matter.

Also, Ainge is not going to tank.  Firstly, they're paying Stevens too much money.  Secondly, the team has too much talent.  Ainge would have to get rid of at least half the roster for no immediate return in order to compete for a bottom three record.  The most Ainge will do is let Bass and Jerebko walk and deal Turner at the trade deadline.

Also, I see a lot people saying how all of our Future Picks are pretty worthless---Because of the other night...Well, I think they DO hold great value---it's just hard to move them on Draft Night---because teams are afraid to make a huge mistake, after they spent weeks and months working out these guys in the draft---The Picks are worth a whole lot more for in season/trade deadline deals. I believe---so people need to settle down on how bad Danny did.

The most gettable star big man is going to be Paul Millsap, since he wants the max and the Hawks will have difficulty matching a max contract offer.  I advocate offering him the max.

I know I have been getting my hopes up lately but deep down I still think next year is when we start to see bigger moves on our team for the following reasons;

1. We could have up to 4 first round draft picks with the potential of them being lottery picks of varying degrees plus even more second picks.

2. We'll have a better idea of how valuable our future picks are, the pick swap in 2017 with the Nets, 2018 Nets pick, and future Grizzlies pick.

3. This gives Sully a year to restore his value going into his contract year, and we'll have another year to see if others have a leap in their game Smart, KO, Zeller, Bradley, Young ect that will only increase their trade value, or have a better idea if we want to keep them around or not.  Even someone like Turner if he continues to play well as he did down the stretch when he settled in at SF will help his trade value.  Overall if we play anywhere close to the 24 and 12 that we finished the season with it's going to help everyones trade value.

4. All 3 points ties in that it may better timing to trade for or sign a big name free agent starting next year.

I'm willing to be patient with all this, and in the meantime we might have a chance to win the division if the Raptors decide to rebuild. ;)

Not mad about unable to move up.  You need 2 to tango, out of DA hands.

But, I was expecting a better selection at #16.  DA gets paid tons of money for what he does, so I'll give him some time.....

Those stars are just that-stars. They aren't legends by any means. Love, Curry, Irving, Cousins, Dwight, Harden, you name it. Comparing them to legends like KG and Duncan and Kobe is literally insulting those three guys as well as others. Those teams have stars and all, but I don't see them winning the title. With the exception of this year's Warriors, I see legends like LeBron, KG, Dirk and Kobe winning over the past 8 years. Not these so called "stars"

No he means one of those players you give up everyone for like Demarcus Cousins.  If you get that guy you are an instant contender, every single year, no matter who or how much you give up to get him.  Instant playoffs every year and 50 win seasons.  ::)

Told you so. Proof that free agents do not want to play in cold Boston. Boston never will sign an big name free agent. Only way to accomplish getting a star is to do a proper tank like the Sixers. Tank hard and get ready for 2017.

I agree.

When you go through the list of free agents -- Gasol, LMA, Love, Monroe -- and then the list of teams who will be vying for their services -- NY, LA, DAL, SA, POR, BOS -- I don't see the Celtics being at the top of the list for any of the free agents.

Well I think for anyone other than Monroe, you can scratch off NY.  They are a mess and I can't see anyone choosing to go there.

Dallas' future isn't looking so bright.  One or two years left of Dirk and most of those guys are 4's anyway so, I don't buy going there.

SA can get one guy and they are going to have to shave some people to do it.  I don't see Love going there.  LA might but SA is going to have to pay Kawi big bucks.

Gasol you'd have to say stays in Memphis although you'd have to think they are max'd out in the Western Conference.  The White Mamba said Boston is one of Gasol's favorite cities.   Maybe he sees greener pastures elsewhere.  Chance of getting him small but not impossible.

If LaMarcus goes to LA, then Love would seem to be out there.  DeAndre Jordan might also go to LA, does LaMarcus want to play with him?  Does Love?  Maybe.

Cleveland doesn't seem like a fit for Love, Lebron apparently isn't all that interested in him coming back.  Then who is left for Love?

If either Love or Gasol do chose Boston, then the other becomes even more likely.  Sure we will have to throw a draft pick away to get someone to munch Wallace's contract for us but I'm sure someone will.

So I don't think it is impossible, I also don't think it is more than 50%.

I am sure the Warriors are more than happy to be without a 'legend' right now. All star team mates help build these so called legends, Without Shaq leading the way the first 3 peat and Gasol's all star level of play , what is so legendary about Kobe?

Despite that report, I still put us as having a good chance at Monroe, in part because I see David Falk and Danny Ainge having a good relationship.

Monroe and Ed Davis would make an interesting #4 #5 defensive pairing... You can find cheaper scorers outside of Harris.
