Taj Gibson for Bradley- Back court issues solved

The rumoured Gibson for Avery Bradley trade makes a tonne of sense now.

It would solve both teams depth chart issues.

Bradley slots into both back up guard roles and could even start if Dunleavy heads to the bench or doesn't re-sign.

Gibson leaves a crowded front line rotation with Pau, Noah, Mc Dermott, Mirotic and Portis

Meanwhile Gibson can play the 3,4 or spot minutes as a small ball 5 and solves a lot of our rebounding and toughness issues.

I like this deal a lot for both teams.

our depth Chart looks a lot better , and obviously there will be free agent signings

Not a deal I would be overly happy with, but if we did acquire Gibson, expect him to play the 5 full time. At the very least I suppose it balances out roster a bit.

I know what he's talking about, it needs to stop being viewed as a problem and hardly a log jam. None of the four players should be seeing heavy heavy minutes as of yet. Guard depth is always a necessity regardless.

Gibson is one of the guys I looked at post draft as a roster balancing trade. I'd be on board with this swap.

I wouldn't mind this trade but I wish Gibson was 2 years younger. IF that was the case it would be a no brainer for me.

I would be surprised if the Bulls aren't the team that initiates talks like this. They are the team with the true log jam. With all their bigs healthy there aren't enough minutes to go around, then they added Portis in the draft and it became even more crowded.

I'd much rather have Noah provided he can pass a physical.

There is no way Ainge trades Bradley for Gibson. Sullinger is a better player than Gibson overall.

Gibson has less value than Bradley and at 29/30 years old he is what he is...an undersized bench big man who can play some decent defense vs second units and score around the basket.
Not worth giving up a perennial candidate for DPOY.
If Gibson was 24 yrs old with some upside like Thad Young then it would be more plausible.

There is no way Ainge trades Bradley for Gibson. Sullinger is a better player than Gibson overall.

Gibson has less value than Bradley and at 29/30 years old he is what he is...an undersized bench big man who can play some decent defense vs second units and score around the basket.

If Gibson was 24 yrs old with some upside like Thad Young then it would be more plausible.

beat me to it. gibson is 6'9" (same listed height as sully) and his rebounding is ok, not great either, averaged 6.4 per game last season.

to compare with sully, as mentioned above:

gibson pts & rbs per 36
13.6 & 8.4

sully pts & rbs per 36
17.7 & 10.1

and sully is 7 years younger.

I totally agree that Sully is better than Taj. But I don't think it's an either - or is it? We have like 9 guards and someone has to go or we play midget ball. I haven't checked but I would think Taj blocks more shots than Sully and we know that Sully is not 6'9 - he's 6'7 if that. Nothing against Sully because I love him and he's our BEST rebounder but Taj may add some athleticism and some shot blocking which if we traded AB for him AB couldn't do.

AB has a sweet coming off the screen jumper from mid-range and he can defend as good as anyone in that 2 position but let's not forget he is somewhat fragile also. I wouldn't mind AB for Taj to at least get someone else to foul LeBron.

all good points, but a question for me is whether AB might give a far better return on the "trade dollar" than gibson? i think ainge can do better.
