Like most everyone else, I was very disappointed last night. I literally waited months for the draft and was much more excited for it than I ever was to see us make the playoffs and give up a great pick to watch the Cavs decimate us. HOWEVER, here is my idea:

1. Max out Harris
2. Sign Love
3. Trade Bradley, Sully or KO, and many firsts for favors.
4. Sign Piece to the MLE!

Outcome: (1) Smart/IT/Rozier (2) Hunter/Young/Rosier (3) Harris/Pierce/Crowder (4) Love/Sully or KO (5) Favors/Mickey

And even if we traded Smart to get Favors, I'd still love our chances. OR we could trade Smart to try to get another 'win now' piece.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure favors + love makes sense.

Problems:
1. $$$, Wallace would have to be traded, and we still might not have enough + it would cost some of our assets
2. Is 5 the best place to use Favors?
3. Only Smart and Favors play defense (I guess Harris is passable, but the others are liabilities)
4. Does it make sense to bring back Crowder to play 3rd string?
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Well, I think it's better than Danny's Big 3 of Piece, Love & Robin Lopez.

We could Sign & Trade for Harris which would allow us to sign Love outright (I think)-- that way they get something out of letting him go.

Favors could be the 4 and Love the 5 or vice versa.. the main thing is that Favors would be the rim protector. I think they'd be fine together because Favors is more inside and Love more outside, although he could play more inside as well.

I think this way we'd consolidate our assets and be able to compete with the Cavs. Just my 2 cents.

Bump

Really, nothing? I'm surprised-- I think this is somewhat realistic and that it would make up a top 3 team in the east while still retaining a bunch of our assets...

1. I really like Harris as a stretch 4. His numbers as a 3 (especially defensively) have not been good.
2. If Love is willing to sign here it would be a great move. Him and Harris are kind of redundant.
3. Favors would be a great 5 for us. His defense is exactly what we need at the 5. If they do deal him so that they can surround Gobert with 3 point shooters I think it would be a great move. I am really curious what it would take to get him though, but I would give them a huge haul for him.

If we can add Favors/Love or Favors/Harris as the new 4-5 we just got younger and more athletic. I would completely be in favor of these moves (pun intended)

If we can't get Harris or Love, I think Terrence Jones would be a great option. If Love goes to Houston they will be looking to save cap space and we could take on any salary they needed if it brings us Jones.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

This plan is really good but I have 2 issues. 1 is cap related, 1 basketball.
First I think favors is best at the 4.
Second, money won't work after moving AB we are down to 19 mil even if you dump Wallace you are still 5-6 mil short of being able to sign Harris

Here's how you could solve both.

Sign Monroe instead of love. Play Monroe at the 5. These two complement eachother terrifically.

Then dump Turner Olynyk and Wallace for nothing (if we have the draft pick capital to do so) now because Monroe is 3 mil cheaper than love we are able to create enough space to offer Harris 15-16 mil.

I personally don't love Harris but he's 22 and offers good size and scoring at the 3 so I wouldn't mind signing him.

Thomas Rozier
Smart hunter young
Harris Crowder
Favors someone Mickey
Monroe Zeller

That's not bad at all.

I'd say yes sign Love and trade for Favors. That would be great but don't feel its possible. Favors will not get dealt Jazz are close to being good and it takes top talent to do it. They rather give Hood, Burk and Lyles for AB. As for Love don't think he turns down LA or NY in favor for C's.

Love and Monroe might compliment each other on the offensive end, but Love already didn't like being a three point shooter, why would he like that in Boston playing with Monroe.  They definitely don't compliment each other on the defensive end, unless you mean like, "hey I like the way you let that guy go right to the basket and dunk it."  "Why thank you, I like the way you didn't step in and play any help defense."  "Thanks, I'm more of an offensive guy."  "Me too!"  "We really compliment each other don't we?"

I really don't like Harris at the 3. All his defensive numbers are awful there and his offense suffers too. If you play Harris and Love at the 3 and 4 even Smart, Afflalo and Hunter wouldn't be able to cover up for them.

Honestly I'm not a big Harris fan at all and hope we don't offer him max money. However, he seems like a realistic possibility unfortunately. I'd much rather spend the money and assets on a different wing guy but I kept him in there just for rumors and possible reality's sake.

The reason the Jazz are considering dealing Favors is because him and Gobert, can't space the floor. Monroe and Favors would really kill our offense. Why do you prefer him at the 4? He's 6'10 265 which is plenty big for a current NBA center.

I would love Monroe or Favors with Harris at the 4, but if you are playing Harris, Favors and Monroe two of them are not playing at their best position?
