Why is noone talking about IT being shopped? His contract is nice and he can easily put up 20ppg.
That's easy -- because he's a keeper.

Thing is, who is going to give up more than a mid to late 1st rounder for a guy who seems firmly entrenched as a sixth man?  The Celts already have mid to late 1sts coming out their ears.

Because he's on a nice contract and can put up 20ppg...

If IT can't get Love here this off season than he needs to go ASAP. You've seen the best of him and in the playoffs you saw the real him, ball hog that plays hero ball. I highly doubt he can change who he is the only thing we can do is play him less. In the regular season he gets away with being undersized and being a gunner. In the playoffs teams focus on him and shut him down and if you remember it wasn't that hard the Cavs made him look like a high school kid out there.

And I don't think teams buy into the notion that they can get Thomas and keep him happy in the 6th man role.

If we can get a scoring superstar in here, I see no reason to keep IT. We have a lot of good scoring guards now. Package IT, Bradley, Sully/KO, and some picks for a main piece. You guys want to build around IT?

I'd like to keep Thomas as a sixth man and explore the options for finding a superstar who won't necessarily score 20ppg.

I'll take my chances with a "ball hog" who averages 7 apg and gets to the line 9 times per game.

It sounds like a lot of people here are saying IT is our untouchable player. Thats hard to believe when he is such a defensive liability. I love IT, but if Smart is tradeable so is he.

We don't have Lillard/Curry/Wall etc. Our guards are tradeable. We got this many guards in the first place because other teams thought they were tradeable.

I think volume scorers are overrated, so I don't really want a scoring superstar who can't contribute in other ways if he has a 3-14 shooting night.  I want a star who can make a game-winning assist.  I don't want a star who wants and end-of-game iso with the ball in his hands down one with fifteen seconds left.  (It's a different story if the coach calls that as the play.)  I want a defense-first superstar.  I'd rather go with an ensemble strategy for roster creation than build around a Carmelo Anthony-type star.

I think it makes a lot more sense for them to look to unload Bradley, and probably Turner as well.

Smart will be available if any team is willing to give up a major frontcourt or wing piece.  But I think it would take a crazy offer that wouldn't make much sense given what Smart has shown to this point.
This is basically what I think. Bradley can't play point guard and he's really too small to play the 2. If there is interest in Bradley that can get decent return, I'd rather see someone with Rozier's talent try and replace Bradley and keep Smart, who's attitude and work ethic seem to really inspire his teammates.
