He's worth an offer.....22 years old and still plenty of time to develop.
He's about to turn 23...but I agree he's pretty darn good for his age when you consider he's younger than Olynyk and even a tad younger than Sully.
Thing is if we offer this kid 15 million it's going to be a market value contract in 2016-17.
I think the idea of taking this guy is to
a) fill some of that cap room before the large spike while he has potential- he's only started one full season in the NBA.
b) fills a position of need for us and also lets us play super small ball with Crowder at the SF and Harris at the PF.
c) get his numbers up with a carefully orchestrated offense that he can be the focal point of and increase his trade value and the subsequent 'package' value that we can offer teams with our Brooklyn picks.
If he starts averaging 20 points, 5 boards, 5 assists then a trade package of
Harris+2016 Dallas pick+one or two of the 2016, 17', or 18' Brooklyn picks looks pretty amazing for someone like Cousins.
