Tobias Harris = Rudy Gay. Totally irrelevant for us.

Tobias is not gay!

Yeah, this team totally has no need for a wing with good size, decent rebounding, and the ability to score inside and out every night at both forward spots.

And this team needs to pay max money for another Jeff Green?

No; luckily, the team would be paying max money for a guy who projects as a much better offensive option than Jeff Green.

So why did the Bucks and potentially the magic pass him on ?

Actually for the same reasons. Scott Skiles was coaching with the Bucks, gave him absolutely no playing time, and then he got traded in a multi player deal for JJ Reddick.

For the life of me, I can't seem to understand why the Magic didn't want Harris. I know Scott Skiles then joined the Magic this year again, and there were talks about how Harris was going to leave, or how the relationship would affect his decision to opt out.

But Harris is a pretty solid piece to have, although, I just don't see that much of a high ceiling from him. I actually don't really like him, and he seems like hes absolutely lost on defense most of the time. But hes a good clutch shooter, and can drain the 3 while rebound, and score. So what the heck not?
for all the reasons you state and he will cost a lot of salary and does absolutely nothing for moving Boston to a contender.  There is absolutely no reason to pay big money for Tobias Harris on this team.  He isn't going to win you any games and is just going to eat up salary space.  Pretty much a more expensive version of Avery Bradley i.e. worthless for Boston.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Both guys are flawed, sure.  But go out and sign Tobias Harris and follow it up by getting Greg Monroe, each for the max, and you'd have a pretty good start.  That's how you make up for not getting any high level young talent in the draft.

Grab Harris and Monroe and call it an off-season (unless Cousins becomes available).

That would be even better than my Harris and Lopez plan, except Monroe will command a max contract as well, and the C's don't currently have room for two of those.

After we dump Wallace, we will.

I should add, if we can't dump Wallace, but can dump Turner and then stretch Wallace, we will have enough as well.

Right. Not to mention he's only 22 years old.

No, no, no. Let me repeat: stay away from nonbo forwards.

Forgive me, but what does "nonbo" mean in this context?

I think it's an antonym for "combo".  Meaning instead of playing both F spots competently, he can't play either.

Well, he can play both forward spots better than average -- on offense.

On defense, it's a different story, but would he really be that much worse than Olynyk or Sullinger at the 4, or Turner at the 3?  At least he's above average at something, and he provides a scoring punch with size on the wing that the Celts desperately lack.

Kind of similar skillset to Green, sure, but his outside shooting seems better, he has a stronger post-up game if I'm not mistaken, and he's able to shoulder an offensive load much more consistently than Green, who was always poorly cast a lead offensive option rather than an opportunistic complementary piece.

Tobias Harris is a nice player. Max contract? No way!

Well, yeah, good players cost money. You can keep seeking out the value signings of the likes of Avery Bradley and Evan Turner and settling on 7-10 seed, 30-40 win teams if you want, though.

Tobias Harris contributes as much as Avery Bradley towards a championship team. Avery is cheap.

People keep saying Avery Bradley is overpaid.

Don't really want Tobias Harris as he doesn't seem like a guy that can push us over the top
Rather we would improve slightly and remain a mediocre team
Tobias Harris is a good player and has some better fits than us
