I would support this:

Sign and trade:

Bradley, Milwaukee's choice of Sullinger/Olynyk, Evan Turner

For

Khris Middleton, John Henson

Smart/IT/Thornton
Middleton/Rozier/Hunter
Crowder/James Young
Sully or Olynyk/Bass/Mickey
Zeller/Henson

6th seed. Exciting team with major potential to grow. Leaves us with a good amount of cap space in 2016 and still tons of picks left.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Harris is a SF and he's 22... he averages 17 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1 steal on 46%/36%/79% shooting.  Using the "max" for him would make sense.  Looks like Danny is desperate to get a SF here.  We supposedly were offering 4 draft picks to move up to #9 to take Winslow.   Harris is a restricted free agent.  Can they work out a sign-and-trade with restricted free agents?  Move Bradley + Wallace for him or something?

Harris would make sense.  He's the kind of second-tier star you have to give max money to if you strike out on the big names... he fits with the young core.  You can't look at max contracts the same way you did previously.  With the cap jumping 20 mil next year and 20 mil the year after, you need to do everything possible to get talent here and become an attractive destination for other free agents.

yes

All this type of stuff is just pure speculation right? I mean how does anyone know who frontrunners are for a soon to be free agent? When I read that it tells me the team and player have had communication and have mutual interest. But that would be against the rules and tampering right?

Agents talk.

No, no, no. Let me repeat: stay away from nonbo forwards.

Forgive me, but what does "nonbo" mean in this context?

I think it's an antonym for "combo".  Meaning instead of playing both F spots competently, he can't play either.

I think we're the only team who will actually bid on him the pistons already have their starting sf with Stanley Johnson and I doubt the magic will match any offer because they drafted hejonza to become their go-to scorer

so maybe at 9,10 or 11 mil/year?

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
So why did the Bucks and potentially the magic pass him on ?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
We need to start somewhere - he plays a position of need and can be a go-to scorer. I would love to sign him outright, but if we need to trade for him, hopefully we can unload Wallace to give us space for another max guy.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.

Actually for the same reasons. Scott Skiles was coaching with the Bucks, gave him absolutely no playing time, and then he got traded in a multi player deal for JJ Reddick.

For the life of me, I can't seem to understand why the Magic didn't want Harris. I know Scott Skiles then joined the Magic this year again, and there were talks about how Harris was going to leave, or how the relationship would affect his decision to opt out.

But Harris is a pretty solid piece to have, although, I just don't see that much of a high ceiling from him. I actually don't really like him, and he seems like hes absolutely lost on defense most of the time. But hes a good clutch shooter, and can drain the 3 while rebound, and score. So what the heck not?

As Orlando restricted free agent Tobias Harris will pursue a maximum-level offer sheet on July 1 that the Magic possibly won’t match, the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics have emerged as leading candidates for the talented forward, league sources told RealGM.

Harris, 22, is among the top young players on the available market, and could be the most vulnerable restricted free agent to leave his team. Around the NBA, several teams are believed to be open to preparing a near-max contract for Harris — which could approach $15 million-plus per season, an area the Magic likely elect not to match given the course of extension talks last October and their current team salary structure.

Tobias Harris = Rudy Gay. Totally irrelevant for us.

Well since we've already filled the rest of the roster with defensive dirt dogs in theory adding a ball dominant iso scorer could be just what this team needs. Consider myself to be pro Harris at just below the current max.
