His out side shot looks much better than Smarts did coming in. He may not have the size, but man he's quick with the ball and has nice moves. I think him going to the hoop is what they really like on top of his D. People complain about the assists, but he was also asked to play SG because of his scoring.

I don't mind this pick as long as some one gets moved.

Did anyone else notice how Chad Ford listed Rozier's comp as "A young Marcus Smart?"

http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/draft/rounds

For the record, Marcus smart is exactly eleven days older than Terry Rozier.

The age is a big thing for me.  Guys like Bradley and Young were intriguing picks because they were very young.  They didn't fill an immediate need, but they had plenty of time to develop, physically and mentally.

I don't like the idea of drafting guys who are already 20, 21 years old unless they really dominated in college, because they are probably already close to what they will be.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

I'm with you 100% on this.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I think he's a solid pick considering we couldn't trade up.
The only real weakness in his game is his consistency from beyond 10 feet.
The mini Wade comparison is a very complementary one- similar styles.
He has a pretty amazing floater and reminds me a lot of Damian Lilliard with his attacking style, but with a bit of street/hood about his game style like Monta Ellis.

Anyway, this guy will be an absolute nightmare in the pick and roll and his floater is NBA quality already. Having Thomas there to teach him will be awesome.
Shooting mechanics are solid too.

Dunno if anyone saw it but a few weeks ago someone reported that the other point guards wouldn't work out against Rozier because he's too tough- which is what happened to Smart as well before the draft.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Ainge mentioned in his defense hearing on Toucher and Rich this morning that Rozier would "live in the paint". At the risk of reading to deeply into innocuous comments, it kind of seemed like it could be a veiled shot at Marcus Smart and his struggles to drive effectively at the NBA level.

I think Reggie Jackson is the best comp for Rozier. If we could get another Reggie Jackson at 16, I think it would be tough for folks to be so critical of Danny for this draft. Rozier could end up being better than a lot of players that were drafted before him.

I like the pick, but the problem is that we have too many PG/SG on this team which means that somebody has to go. :(
PG: Smart, Isaiah, Rozier, Pressey
SG: Bradley, Young, R.J. Hunter (and not to mention Thornton who we just drafted!)

The logjam problem could be solved if Pressey is waived and R.J. could play SF in the NBA (can he?). One thing is sure this summer will be an interesting one...

Can you imagine him not being better than Oubre at this point?

Heard that with Justin Anderson against wing prospects(Dekker) but not Rozier. That's great this kid is a real pit bull in the making.

I bet Dekker skipping his Celtics workout against Anderson and Hollis-Jefferson could have factored into our decision to pass on him.

After watching the highlights I can tell you one thing he doesn't do as well as Wade for sure, get foul calls when being fouled.  I counted five straight highlights that should have been and 1's.  Not getting calls, he should fit right in here in Boston.  Bring on the Cavs!

I'm actually surprised by the Kelly Oubre hype train that went down yesterday. He's got great potential but showed basically nothing at Kansas. Must have been the shoes. ;)

Yes I think right now Rozier is more NBA ready than Oubre. Be interesting to revisit in a few years but at the moment Rozier does enough at the NBA level to make a bigger impact on a team than Oubre.

I hear you to an extent with the age thing, but really, your OK with young being 19 but  Smart is washed up and  he's 20? I like the two year players, Roziers exploder from freshman to sophmire year, he should hit his prime at 25, but again it's all about want to, desire to be great. Young may not have it, Sully does not look like he has it, Smart may have the desire but not the skill, we have to just sit back and watch.

Kid plays incredibly like d wade.. same hop step while changing hands with the ball over defenders head... kid has game.. I only saw him play one game in the tourney when he fell into the baseboard and hurt his lower back...

The fact is with Young, if  he does not show up this year, he's in a worse position than Smart or Rozier, cause he's lacking confidence that those guys got sophmore year,

I see a little Jordan Crawford on offense.  :P it can be hard to tell sometimes with highlight videos.
