If you think people here overrate hometown assets, check out what LibertyBallers commenters expect in return for the #3 pick:

This guy wants 8 (!) first round picks:

"Here’s what I’d want from Boston:

2015: Boston (16), LAC (28), Phl (33)
2016: Boston, Brooklyn, Minny, and Dallas in the first, with our second returning (at least 3/4 of those firsts)
2017: one of their two firsts
2018: one of their two firsts"

I know I'm in the minority, but I think Okafor will be the best player from this draft.  He's the best low post scorer since probably Duncan.  He averaged 17.4 ppg on 66.4% shooting.  It seems everyone is treating him like a finished product as if he can't improve his weaknesses while projecting on the other prospects.

Agree 100%. towns is a helluva a player as well... but this will be Duncan 2.0... instead you see clowns on here talking about porzingis and iwnslow? I guess if people have enough time they will talk themselves into anything... he Is all star level on offense.. his defense will be fine...

You may be right or not, but there is no reason to call other posters clowns for posting their honest opinions of players. The forum rules call for a minimal level of respect.

If someone picks porzingas over okafer .. yes they are a clown lol.

This must mean embiid is gonna be fine if philly is even somewhat considering this.

What makes you think Philly is considering this?

Now you think Philly is considering it? Before it was "no chance" of that happening. If your really a Celtic fan, why do you always seem to say that nothing is ever in play for us. You think all our players stink, we hardly have any real assets and Ainge has no chance to make any moves. It's good to have some pessimism to temper expectations, but you take it to a whole new level.

I don't think it necessarily HAS to include Smart if were just getting the 3rd pick but I'd it doesn't it certainly has to include James Young. There was a rumor yesterday that Hinkie was willing to trade the pick if he get a good prospect and an unprotected 1st in return. Alot of people thing he's a top-ten talent. Make a trade centered around Young, Olynyk, at least the 2016 Brooklyn pick, the Memphis pick, the 2016 PHI 2nd,  #16, #33 is something Hinkie could deff do. Did anyone consider that maybe Ainge is looking to get that pick, draft Okafor or Porzingas and trade it to SAC in an offer for Cousins? That's possible.

OooOo, intriguing. So when Okafor (who isn't slipping to 3 since the Lakers are taking him for the kings) slips to 3, the celtics are prepared to send a monster trade offer for him!! Awesome!  I wonder if Philly is already prepared to decline the hypothetical monster trade offer that will never come since the lakers are taking Okafor for the Kings?... I can't wait to not see this scenario play out.

More posturing. Philly wants Russell and doesn't want the lakers messing with them by taking Russell and trading down to 4.

Is there something you can do with your time that you honestly enjoy, rather than scraping whatever meager satisfaction you do from loitering around here?

TP!  Lol.
Well said.

Funny you say that because just yesterday both Woj (on Fox Sport 1) and David Aldridge (on NBATV) said that Embiid is still meeting with specialists to determine if he's going to need surgery or not.

Would ABSOLUTELY love to draft Okafor but like that one guy mentioned 8 first and Smart for him? Maybe if Danny gets a promise from that trio it's a good deal

No way you offer 8 firsts for one guy. I would offer two this year and then one more in next year's draft...I really don't want to part with Smart if at all possible

I have no problem with them asking for a ton of firsts,  it's also why nothing is going to happen.

I think Danny is hyping Okafor for a reason:

a. Perhaps he wants Lakers to reconsider passing up on him, with the hopes the player they want will slide a bit

b. A scenario where Celtics draft Okafor and trade him to the Knicks for the rights of Porzingis and future firsts (or perhaps to SacTown in a Cousins deal?)

c. They actually think Okafor is that special

Im starting to think Porzingis is the guy they want, and Russel the target if Smart is traded.

It doesn't.  The entire thing is contingent on the idea that the Lakers would take Russell 2nd... I don't believe that's realistic.

But yeah, I'd probably offer Smart + #16 + #28 + some of our other 1sts to get Okafor (or Embiid... or Noel)...  Doesn't mean Philly takes it.

My point was that if you're the type of person who would believe the plausibility of this nonsensical rumor, you also must believe that Embiid is fine.  Otherwise, why would Philly do this?  No point to trade a potential franchise big man for a defensive guard and middling picks.

Vivek and Karl want the Kings to be a fast paced run and gun team, so they may pass on Okafor if the rumored trade is completed.

So the Lakers would take Russell to trade him to the Kings?... in that scenario do the Kings start Ben McLemore or NiK Stauskas at center?
