"He's gone," a source close to Aldridge said. "There's a 99.9 percent chance that he's out of Portland."

The sources listed several reasons Aldridge is expected to leave the Blazers, for whom he has played since entering the league in 2006. They said he doesn't believe the Blazers can attract top free agents to improve the team, that he feels somewhat underappreciated by the organization and that he simply is looking for a new environment to live in.

Sources told Stein that the Blazers have been pressing for more concrete signals from Aldridge's camp about his plans before the July 1 start of free agency and are ?increasingly fearful they have little chance of retaining the All-Star big man once he hits the open market.

On the list of teams Aldridge will consider signing with are the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks, sources said. Aldridge is actually thinking more and more about a free-agent jump to the Lakers, sources told Stein this week.

The Lakers, sources added to Stein, firmly believe they now will be in the Aldridge hunt. ...

The Spurs, sources say, continue to be Aldridge's most likely destination.

If the Lakers somehow end up with Cousins and Aldridge, I might just be done with the NBA.  :P

That would, indeed, be disgraceful.

But ironically I was just thinking earlier that I have my doubts as to whether that front line would work together.  I mean sure Aldridge prefers to play on the perimeter and Cousins prefers to play inside, but other then that both of those guys have a high usage rate and get the their points off a significant number of FGA, so I'm not sure if either can be effective without the  ball in their hands all the time...

Must like what happened with Melo and Amare in New York.

Of those teams, I'd like to see Aldridge go with the Knicks.

SG: Winslow
SF: Melo
PF: Aldridge

A small ball crunch time lineup of

SF: Winslow
PF: Melo
 C: Aldridge

Acquire a useful center and a good PG. That would be a really nice team.

I'd really rather he didn't end up in Dallas, either.

Why is Portland a hard city to attract Free Agents? Legitimate question as someone from Australia, the city seems more than a pleasant place to be  - granted my exposure to it is a friend who grew up there and me watching Portlandia :P but there seems to be many less desirable cities to be in.

Yeah tough pill to swallow. But have to give them credit for tanking properly instead of chasing doomed playoff runs.

It's a relatively small city where it rains a lot.  It's cultural base is largely centered around white professionals, and it's very much a sub-urban type of city.  It's not a particularly glamorous city, and the night life doesn't compare to LA, Miami, NYC, etc.  (Granted, some of this is outdated, because I lived there over a decade ago).

The basketball fans are rabid, though.

Maybe that we got lapped by  Atlanta, which is a lame city and a meh basketball team.

You've got to have more of a recent track record of success than "got swept in the first round after a surprise 40 win season" to attract a free agent like LMA.

Either that, or have the glamorous major market and a star already on the roster, like New York or LA, but I still think LMA will go to a team that's ready to contend right away and has already been very competitive without him.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Houston Rockets to pursue both Kevin Love and LaMarcus Aldridge to add to their arsenal with James Harden and Dwight Howard. They gonna shop Terrence Jones.

If it's between those two, he better go to the Spurs to bolster that Western Conference powerhouse lol.
