This is a weird rumor especially coming from Woj like really?? Bullpett says were not even that big on him anymore this sounds like were trolling him lol

Bulpetts article is more "there needs to be other shoes to drop" and if things went the way Woj suggests, that would definitely constitute.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

So Kevin, I know you can stay in Cleveland and have LeBron, Kyrie, and Mozgov but we are prepared to put Robin Lopez, Isaiah Thomas, and Paul Pierce around you and make you the face of an honored franchise.  Why don't you come on over?

Yeah,  I am not sure I buy this one.
That's what I was trying to say.  :)

Yeah,  I am not sure I buy this one.

Being stuck in Ohio for the next few seasons isn't exactly a selling point.

He got the royal treatment that weekend he was here, not just a bunch of grovelling and boot licking but legitimate dignified respect.  To be one of the top athletes in Boston is to be respected and revered by people who know what real greatness looks like.

Cavs fans felt like he was a commodity. He owed it to Lebron and the franchise for bringing him in for a chance at a championship and should have accepted his reduced role without complaint. I heard a Cavs fan call into Ferrall on the Bench the night Love got injured and mocked him for how he ran off the court after getting his shoulder torn out of it's socket. A lot of those people people are just ants at a picnic.

Celtics Try To Scare Kevin Love Away By Threatening To Sign Paul Pierce And Brook Lopez's Brother

"In an attempt to keep free agent Kevin Love from obtaining any interest whatsoever in signing with the Boston Celtics this summer, the team is threatening to also sign Paul Pierce and Brook Lopez’s brother, Robin Lopez, should he somehow find his way onto the team."

We're just 40 years out from Bill Russell's house getting ransacked by Boston residents. I wouldn't say the Celtics have a particularly sterling history of dignified fan behavior.

Well ugly as that black mark is, I think we could agree that there were issues that went well beyond sports in that case. They definitely weren't ransacking his house because he wasn't winning enough.

What we can offer is history. As a fan base we can act like we've been there before... because we have. We don't need to pass out tee shirts at play off games, just last year we showed earsplitting support for the last 8 minutes of a team that got swept in the first round.

Love seems like the type that cares about the game. He want's to be remembered, not just to be paid. Aside from LA where else is he going to find a better place to etch his name in Basketball lore than right here?

Lopez & Pierce aren't the most compelling teammates, but this whole thing is rather miscast because that's obviously not the whole pitch. I'm thinking they'll still be mentioning some of the players that made the playoffs last year, and other moves they may be making.

If we sign Lopez and Love, we're more than likely moving KO or Sully. The rumor du jour seems to be getting up to #6. And so it might be more like:

Smart, Bradley, Winslow, Love, Lopez
(bench) Thomas, Young, Pierce, Zeller, Turner, Sully

Throw in a top young coach, a top GM, a featured role, and a bright future full of draft picks and cap space.

I'm not saying it'll work, but it's also not "come play with Pierce and Lopez!"

The comparison of Lebron/Kyrie to Lopez/Pierce is totally misleading.  The facts are that Lebron/Kyrie don't need Kevin Love, never have, never will.  That is what will be enticing to Love over staying in Cleveland.  Need.

I think the best bet would be for the Celtics to make a play at someone like Joakim Noah from the Bulls.  It would most likely end up with the Rondo trade exemption being used to take in Noah and sending back a package similar to Sully (or Olynyk), the 28th pick and probably another future 1st rounder.  Noah, while having some injury issues is a real defensive presence, passer and enforcer that this team could use on the front line.

With Noah being an actual MVP candidate a couple of years ago after steppng up big during one of Derrick Rose's injuries and still in his late 20's he might be a big help in luring any of the offensive minded power forwards our there in free agency this summer.  Plus he might help with recruiting Jimmy Butler.  I say the Celtics make a play on draft night for Noah (as well as trying to move up in a separate deal) and go into free agency offering both Butler and Love the max.

If moving Gerald Wallace is necessary to fit both contracts, I'm sure Ainge would stretch him or move a pick or two to put himself in position to add butler and Love.  The Celtics would still have a trade exemption to sign Pierce and you have a pretty legit looking team going into next season:

Roster:
PG:  Smart/ Thomas/Pressey
SG:  Bradley/Turner/ Young
SF:  Butler/Pierce/Crowder
PF:  Love/ Olynyk
C:   Noah/Zeller

2015 first rounder (I'm not even going to guess on who it would be, plus I'm assuming that they would be successful in moving up into the top 10)

I agree that adding Pierce, Lopez, and Love would improve our team.  It would also be the worst big three ever.    Lopez is a role player.  The only thing big about him is his stupid hair.

What the hell is going on!!!!!!!!

That sounds like a horrible team by the way. Lakers sounds better with Okafor to be honest.

Means a lot coming from someone who's forum name is TankCity.

If you like Okafor so much, then watch the Lakers.

I am getting of the negativity here regarding the Celts trying to acquire veteran players to win a championship.

That's not a championship team. This whole thing seems weird too me. Maybe if Pierce was 33.

Its rumors like these that make me think Dannys gonna do everything in his power to get Cousins. Love won't be enticed by the likes of Robin Lopez and Paul Pierce, but if the Celtics get Cousins, then the possibility of Love gets all the stronger.

Now whether or not the Celtics will actually get Cousins, that's a different story. Sacramento doesn't want a youth rebuild, and unfortunately that's just about all the Celtics can offer. But, that doesn't stop me from thinking the Celtics can get a third team involved. It all depends on who they can get involved.

I think it's premature to comment on the value of woj's suggested pitch until the draft happens. Ainge clearly has a goal to add at least one more key piece tomorrow.
