So Kevin, I know you can stay in Cleveland and have LeBron, Kyrie, and Mozgov but we are prepared to put Robin Lopez, Isaiah Thomas, and Paul Pierce around you and make you the face of an honored franchise.  Why don't you come on over?

Yeah,  I am not sure I buy this one.

I don't see it either.

I think they need another star talent to put alongside K-Love to convince him to join. He tried to do it all by himself in Minnesota and he hated it.

I see a lot of people posting this, but the pitch is that you won't be crapped on as a third wheel like this whole past season. This Cs team would be COMPLETELY built around Love and his skillset. It would be be a complete vanity project for better or worse. That certainly has appeal.

and the Celtics would be an easy playoff team and a legitimate title contender.

Even if you get Koufos instead of Asik or Lopez, the team would still be in good condition.

That team isn't particularly close to being contenders in my mind.

Gary Washburn: What could the #Celtics offer Paul Pierce that other teams likely wouldn?t? A front office position after he retires. Pierce wants to be GM

Same here. Solid 2nd tier playoff squad though.

Maybe he meant division title?

Yeah,  I am not sure I buy this one.

Being stuck in Ohio for the next few seasons isn't exactly a selling point.

Smart   IT
Bradley  Turner
Pierce  Crowder Young
Love  Olynyk/Sully
Lopez Zeller

There's not enough room for Sully and Olynyk so one will be traded.  Plus 2015 picks, multiple first rounders in 2016 and beyond.

That's a deep team with many ways to improve over the next few years with Love as the face of the franchise.

Plus a great young coach.

I think it's a strong sell.

between our backup point guard, Robin Lopez and 48 year old Paul Piece (who we don't even have on our roster), I don't know how Kevin Love could possibly say no.

Considers Marcus Smart a backup point guard, yet is practically giddy at the thought of trading for Anthony Bennett.

Mike

He's pretty giddy about most non-Celtics.

It does seem overly negative to not at least yourself be happy for a day about seeing Paul Pierce in Green for another year (however remote the idea is). Even if we were another 40 win team, having him around Young, Smart and others for a year would definitely seem to have value. If Paul Pierce wants to do that how can you be against it or down on the idea.
If we got Kevin Love, I'd do backflips.  I'd love to see Pierce back here.   No doubt.

To be clear, I think getting Love is at least plausible.  He would be a rock star here.   I just had to laugh at the idea that the big master pitch revolves around also bringing in Paul Pierce and Robin Lopez.  You dont' think that's funny?  Between our backup point guard acting as our chief draw and the huge lure of potentially playing alongside Robin Lopez and Paul Pierce, you have to chuckle a bit.

I'm 100% on board with getting Love.   I still think he would rather go to the Lakers to play with rondo and cousins.   Rondo + Kobe + COusins vs IT + Pierce + Robin Lopez... tough choice.   I think it comes down to the weather.
There's nothing preventing Pierce from signing with the Lakers.  They should be able to give him full MLE.  Rondo + Kobe + Pierce + Love + Cousins would be an interesting starting lineup.

Being underutilized is another thing too.

The star value may not be on par with Cleveland, but being THE GUY, along with a possibility of being very flexible in the future to add more help could be a great selling point.

See I'm leaning this way. Sure we don't have any star power, but we pushed hard for him last year, which matters, and this would be *his* team. He's not the one who is going to join other guys. When players become available, the questions would be, "Could player X fit with Kevin Love and the Celtics?" and not vice versa. I really think that matters after the season he's had in Cleveland.

As a side note, does anyone think it's kind of rich that LeBron is pulling a Pat Riley on Love and not campaigning to keep him?

I don't know if that team would compete for a championship.

I wouldn't mind to much. I would honestly be just so thrilled to have PP back. I've missed him so much.

I consider any team that is a reasonable pick to be top two in the East to be a team with legitimate title aspirations.
