Honestly, I don't care who it is, if the Celtics can find a way to acquire a legitimate star player (i.e. annual All-Star candidate) under 30, I'm all for it.

Having a star is always better than sitting here in no-man's land pinning hopes on role players and middle of the road picks.

Get the talent, then worry about managing personalities and building a supporting cast, etc.  If we really believe the Celts are this amazing historic franchise that's so well run, they'll figure it out.

Cousins is probably the highest risk/reward player in the league but this team needs to do it. A player of that talent (24-13 at 24) is extremely hard to find. And it's not like we haven't had hard to manage players before..

Very little risk with Cousins. He's locked into a very good contract, and actually has a crapload of trade value. And you know, he can really really play, to say nothing of having this caliber of a player with a crapload of cap space coming our way.

I mean, there's very little downside to this EVEN if Cousins doesn't workout all that well for us.

He has not won 35 games yet in a season. He does not know how to win. Only pad his stats.

How many coaches has he had?? We already got rid of RR to give CBS a break.

You say all that as if it held any significance to me.

Duuuuuuuude you were making so much progress but this is so so wrong.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Cousins is probably the highest risk/reward player in the league

Far from it.

He's a huge bruiser center who is coming off two straight 20+ pt 10+ reb seasons (in an era where very few players hit those marks), has improved a lot defensively in recent years, and the biggest complaint you can make about him is that he's frustrated with his joke of a franchise losing so many games and changing up the coach so often.

Oh, and his field goal percentage is kind of low for a center, but he also takes a lot of shots with very little spacing or passing ability on the roster around him.

The only significant downside to building around Cousins is that you have to accommodate a guy who wants to take 15-20 shots down low every night, which runs against the current trend of playing an up-tempo, drive-and-kick, perimeter-oriented style.  But by the same token, he presents huge matchup problems for basically every opponent in the league.

But why does Sac change coaches over so much. Is it because of Cousins? There's a lot of risk with this guy. Team culture is extremely important. We don't have a KG or PP to keep his butt in line. Who is going to call out DMC on our team? Olynyk?

Yup. He will rip his arm out if he starts to cause problems

Cousins is like Manny Ramirez to me.  He could be good here but we need other pieces.   He's a last piece to the puzzle sort of guy.  I don't trade Smart for him though unless we have something else.

Young C locked up in a long term deal.

A double double machine.

When played with talent (Olympics) showed capable of high contributions with other talents.

Celtics need to put out their best offer and hope for the best.  Must try to get him.  He is the piece all those smaller pieces were gathered to get.

I've been a Celtic fan since 1956, and I believe it is a special franchise  I've learned it takes more than physical talent to win championships. Putting team first, playing with effort and concentration and leading by example have been key to every Celtic title. Too much of what I've seen from Cousins shows that he lacks all these. Yes, I know some things change, but those don't. Winning in the NBA is not the same as winning at fantasy NBA. Despite the talent disparity, I wouldn't trade Smart for Cousins one-for-one.

That's nice.

But Cousins is one of the best centers in the league and I want him on my team.

This isn't 1956 anymore.

Talent wins and if the player can help us win a championship, I don't care what his personality is like.

Besides for all this negativity people talk about Cousins, I haven't seen or heard him do a single thing wrong.

It's just people drawing their own concussions based on their observations and making them seem like facts.

Noted.. .

So, can we get back to discussing how we can acquire Cousins now?

Lol, seriously!!

I swear, Lebron can come out and sign he'd be willing to play for the Celts for free, and someone will find something negative to say about it.

This is what im talking about. CBS is going to have a nightmate coaching this guy

What don't you stop being so concerned about Stevens. He's a big boy, he can take care of himself and his job.

Wow, just wow.

Why anyone wouldn't want Cousins is just…….I don't get it!!

I swear some people want to see us continue to be a losing team.

And I love the sudden concern for Brad Stevens.

As if he doesn't get paid handsomely to coach the team, regardless of the players.

This insouciant crying of I WANT A STAR_______ I WANT A STAR_______ I WANT A STAR, by some, without consideration of do the skills and personalities of the team members mesh and blend, is really disappointing.

We seem spoiled by what happened in 08, we were very lucky we had a KG character guy, to glue the talent all altogether. The major players on the 08 team, really bought in.

Marcus Cousins is not... and never will be, a player you want to lead by example, he will blowup, come apart,
snap!

Selfish player. I would much rather trade everything for a reboot and beg the Lakers to trade us Okafor.

The guy's not a leader.  You can't have the best player on your team be a terrible leader or you end up being... well... the Sacremento Kings.

People on this board are talking about him like he's Tim Duncan when he's more like bizzaro/evil Tim Duncan.  Both are supremely talented, but what makes Duncan great is that on top of being talented he gives maximum effort, believes in the team concept above himself, leads by example, builds up his teammates, and buys into his coach's philosophy 100%.  I've literally never heard any coach/gm/or scout say any of those things about Cousins.  He's the evolutionary Z-Bo.

Z-Bo was also a really talented young player but had to be surrounded by other all-pro caliber players (Conley, Gasol, Allen) to make the playoffs and even with all that leadership around him he still cost them a playoff series in 2013 by getting ejected for punching Steven Adams .

The San Antonio Spurs are also the Bizarro Sacramento Kings. I really don't understand why so many fans are in the dark about the relative merits of various NBA front offices.
