I agree he made the offer to the Sixers, but no way in hell would he then trade that package for Cousins. Makes no sense. It's giving way too much assets for a big who has anger issues. Seriously, nobody on this thread can say Cousins is a leader. Look I want Cousins and all, but every player has his value. I'd rather keep Noel and the #3 pick if that report in this thread is true about flipping the assets for Cousins. You have to remember that the Celtics also traded two first round picks and Smart to get those assets to flip.

This is not a good point.

Okay, so you would trade Smart, Noel, #3, #16, and #28 for Demarcus Cousins? Just wondering?

Without question. That likely comes out to Smart, Noel, probably Russell, and two role players who aren't worth considering in this hypothetical. The potential of the three named guys is cool, but I'd rather bank on three guaranteed years of proven elite-level production from a young big in Cousins.

Crazy, that's way too much for me. The Knicks gave way less for Melo. Same with the Clippers for Paul. I personally think we're giving away more than Cavs did for Love. I guess the counter is that Cousins still has 3 years left. But Imo, the price is too high for Cousins.

Chris Paul had fewer years left on his deal and Eric Gordon had shown more in his career at the time he was traded than either Noel or Smart have to this point. For a comparison, you know how James Harden is widely viewed as the best young shooting guard in the game? Eric Gordon was widely viewed as being right on the cusp of becoming just that when he was traded.

The Melo trade is a bad comparison since the Knicks gave up three prospects, a solid veteran (at the time) in Felton, and several draft picks for a guy who was going to be a free agent in four months time at the very most. Giving up two prospects, an unproven rookie, and middling draft picks for a solid big who's under contract on one of the best deals in the league for another three years? That's a great deal.

I'm a huge Cousins fan, but a line has to be drawn somewhere and this is it. I agree that Noel, Smart, Russell, and two firsts for Cousins is a little steep. Maybe I just think a little too much of Noel and the potential of Russell...and I am totally discounting Smart.

Agree completely, I'd like to at least keep the #3 overall pick. They can have Smart and Noel. Also, there have been new rumors saying Olynk and a third player are also involved in deal. I wish the Celtics could just sign Love or Aldridge and not give up all these assets.

Of course it's steep. He's a 24-year-old big man averaging 24/13 while under a good contract for another three years. The price won't be anything but steep.

His defense wasn't bad either.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

They wouldn't be getting Smart. He was traded to with 16 & 28 for Noel & #3. So to get Cousins they would have to Send Noel, #3, and what else?
I guess it doesn't matter since Philly would never make this deal anyway.
