Maybe #28 if we had a contract to match. I think he should get a chance somewhere, but we're already deep with mediocre 4s, we don't need another.

He's available again because he stinks.

Do you think I'm over or underrating them? I'd personally say that mediocre is a fair characterization of Sully and KO. Both are perfectly capable NBA players, but neither should be a starter on a competitive team. I'm curious to know what you meant.

I wouldn't touch any of our draft picks because we need them to trade up. Also, while I think he has potential to be a good player, I wouldn't trade for him in our situation simply because whoever would make the most sense to give up (one of our PFs in Sully, Olynyk, or s&t Bass or JJ) is likely more affordable. We need cap space this offseason and while Bennett isn't going to win us banner 18, some of the better players signed with the money we save could.

I think you're underrating them. They're not stars, but I think they can start on compeitive teams (Sullinger more than Olnyk.)

same

not sure if Brad can help him at this point, but I'd take a chance at Brad turning Bennett into someone useful worthy of a trade than the value of any player we draft at 28

In a vacuum he might be worth a shot, but in the real world he's due $11 million for the next 2 years with a $7 million team option.  Not worth it for a roll of the dice.

Provided Sully gets in shape, then I wholeheartedly agree. Sully is a very talented player, but I'm dubious as to whether he's ever going to get his act together. The good news is that they both have room to grow, but I'd call them mediocre right now (maybe Sully would be considered decent).

Yup.  I think Bennett is a better prospect than what will be available at #16.

Problem, as others have pointed out, is that Bennett's contract pays him about 5-6 mil per season.  That cuts into our cap space.

I would guess that Bennett has a better career than who gets selected 16th, though.

If Bennett were a minimum salary guy, sure, why not if the price were a future conditional 2nd round pick that will never materialize. But they seem to want something of value in return and who wants his bloated salary clogging up our cap space.

My thread on Bennett from last month:   http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=78383.msg1892509#msg1892509

I go into detail why there is some sense in moving #16 for Bennett.
