Yup.  I think Bennett is a better prospect than what will be available at #16.

Problem, as others have pointed out, is that Bennett's contract pays him about 5-6 mil per season.  That cuts into our cap space.

I would guess that Bennett has a better career than who gets selected 16th, though.

How our sister blog sees it:

Wolves rumors are flying fast today, as we've already heard that they are interested in Raptor point guard Greivis Vasquez, and that they have promised Karl Towns they are drafting him on Thursday.

Now comes the unsurprising news that they are looking to trade former #1 overall pick Anthony Bennett. Following their trades for Adreian Payne and Kevin Garnett last season, it was fairly clear that they weren't high on Bennett as the power forward of the present or the future, and so it comes as no shock that they have apparently begun shopping him around the league in advance of the draft on Thursday.

Bennett has been a disappointment in his two seasons as a pro so far, his first in Cleveland, where injuries and lack of conditioning got him off to a terrible start from which he did not recover, and last season with the Wolves, where he was traded in the Kevin Love deal. He failed to show significant progress despite having a clear path toward minutes, as his tendency to float on the perimeter and his lack of focus on defense drove fans, and apparently the coaching staff, nuts.

It was not good news for him when he got hurt just after the Wolves traded for Payne, who was slated to be young competition for Bennett.

At any rate, putting together the rumors, an exchange featuring Vasquez and Bennett makes some sense, though whether Toronto is at all interested is unknown.

Meanwhile, it sounds as if the Wolves are eager to move on from Bennett and clear up a bit of the log jam that is forming in the front court. Whether they still assign significant value to him and are looking to receive an asset in return or if they just want out remains unclear.

Sounds like the T-Wolves fans would take a 2nd rounder protected through pick 55 to get some cap relief from looking through the comments there and on RealGM.

- It will be nice to clear the salary and bad log jam Not sure if we can get a positive asset.
- They don't have to get a positive asset back for him as long as they  don’t have to give up a positive asset to get rid of him like they did for Wes.
- Bennett put in work by all reports, and from his interviews he certainly doesn’t seem to be an idiot. The dude’s just not good enough at basketball to warrant $6mil. … If anything he seems to have some weird anxiety issues that keep his head out of the game.
- He has some skills, but no hustle, limited awareness, and a propensity to get really down on himself.
-He makes poor mental decisions offensively and defensively. He’s a decent rebounder and he can shoot ok, but he takes poor shots, doesn’t pass well, doesn’t defend well etc. I think if he wasn’t the "#1 overall pick" he’d be out of the league in another year, but due to that will hang around a few more years due to "youth" and "upside"
- We would trade Bennett for nothing If we didn’t have to take any salary back.
- Has Bennett ever not been available? heck he wont be in the NBA a 2 or 3 years from now at this rate. any team would take a 2nd rounder for him at this point
- He may be worth a 2nd round pick.

I didn’t see anyone thinking about getting anything close to #16, but they're probably unaware of your assessment of Bennett or the lack of talent in the draft after the Sixers pick.

Bennett can throw it down with authority on occasion, though. He seems like an asthma-stricken, rich man's Glen Davis with more to prove and less to gain.
