Not saying I'm ready to give up all this, but with the Knicks needing players now around 30 year old Carmelo, not sure anyone outside of Russell can help them right now at 4.
But a core of Carmelo, Sully, Bradley, Portis,  plus they can draft Bpa at 28. That is 100 times better than what they have now.

its a start.

Bradley is the guy who obviously would fit in well in NYK.  My guess is the Phil would prefer KO to Sully, the former being a big with good passing skills (an ideal triangle skill set).

That said, we'll need to include waaaaaay more than 16 & 28 to make it happen.
I'm thinking all 4 of this years picks or a package that includes a future BKL first.  Even that, does it beat a Denver package of Lawson & 7?  Not sure...

wouldn't make the deal.  giving up 2 players that could start for a decent team (admittedly they need to have better players starting with them) and 2 firsts for a crap shoot at #4 is more than i want to pay.  there's no one that would be considered the 4th best player in this draft that I think is close enough to being a sure thing, in terms of being a 2-way player, that I would trade that much for.

don't need Mudiay with Smart.  Winslow isn't that great of a shooter yet and WCS is pretty much just defense only.  not sold on Porzingis either.

could trade to 8-10 and get a player of comparable value for much less cost.

Waaaay more??? I don't think so. If u want all 4 picks this year OK. But  that's a better package than Lawson and 7 IMO.

Yeah we could, but we are hearing that nobody may be interested in trading with us there, I think Charlotte is the best option though

No because there is a huge drop off at 4. If we had to do it I think we would be better off selling high on IT and taking back JC contract.

a) I agree there's a dropoff at 4, and I wouldn't do it.  Too expensive.

b) With the cap set to explode, I am very bullish on IT's value, and see any trade of him now as selling low, fwiw.  Unless it's a package for a star.

c) I personally don't think Danny trades Avery or IT.  While I love all the CBlog talk of determining objective value of our Celtic players(it's why I come to the site), I think Ainge and CBS are building a culture, and Avery/IT are integral parts of the chemistry.

Emphatically no, that package could not get you the 4th pick.

Anything short of Marcus Smart and at least one of the Brooklyn picks is a non-starter, and even then, Marcus Smart is not exactly going to be super exciting for a New York team that is probably looking to win sooner rather than later.

Best just to let go of this notion that the Celtics have the ammo to trade up into the top 5.  The Knicks didn't spend this whole year sucking terribly just to trade down in the draft.  They're trading the pick for a player who is already All-Star caliber, trading within the top 10 for additional draft assets, or not at all.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

There's a reason the Knicks want to trade #4, the talent there just isn't that great. IMO it makes little to no sense to give up a king's ransom for #4 when we can get the same talent by trading up to #9.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I don't do the deal I mentioned for the 4th pick, its not a good place to be in that's why he is shopping it.I would jump on that trade if I were the Knicks if Russell of Okafot are gone, makes then so much better right now. Carmelo is Old now!!!
