The only thing worse than picking Frank at #16 would be trading up to get him. I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but he's just not going to be a good NBA player. Forget upside to be the star(s) we need, Frank won't even be a serviceable rotation guy. If we're going for another low risk/low reward guy, we might as well go after Dekker who at least fits a position of need.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Tyler Zeller
2012 / Round: 1 / Pick: 17th overall
Selected by the Dallas Mavericks

Better than Zeller?  I think so.  I would be fine with Frank K although not sure he can play center in the NBA (not too many can these days).  If we have Zeller, Olynyk and Kaminsky, someone would have to be traded.  I also think refs tend to call more fouls on tall, un-athletic white players.  This trio would rack up the PFs.

Not convinced by Kaminsky. I think there will be better players available even if he does drop to 16. I would take Portis, Looney, J.Anderson, RHJ, J.Grant ahead of him. Or guys like Oubre or Booker if they drop. I am sure at least one of those guys will be available.

The Knicks could select Frank Kaminsky at four in Thursday's draft, according to Sean Deveney of the Sporting News.

Ridiculous.

They brought him in for an interview, which reportedly they wouldn't have done if they were not legitimately interested. The same report says they are looking to trade down to take him but have not been able to find a trade partner. Uhm....did you guys call Danny Ainge?

My guess is they are looking to trade down but are asking for too much so far.

Frankly, no.  He is Brad Miller 2.0

Imagine if Tyler Zeller could shoot three pointers.  That's  pretty close to the floor for Kaminsky.  Even if he can't be any better than that, he's still going to be a rotation player in the NBA.

Do you mean two-time All-Star Brad Miller?

Brad Miller played 14 years in the NBA and at his peak put up 13 to 15 points and 8 to 10 rebounds a game while being a solid defender.  That's a great return on a #16 pick.

I think he'll be one of the steals of the draft. I put more weight on actual accomplishments than most. He was pretty clearly the best player in NCAA basketball last year, and backed it up in the tournament. That doesn't guarantee anything, but most really good players show it in college. In the final four against Kentucky and Duke, he won the battles against big men everyone says are better than him. Those games weren't outliers either. This guy is a winner.

I like Zeller and Olynyk, but he's got a more competitive mindset than either of those two, and he's better at dealing with physical play. His skills fit where the pro game is going, and will likely make an all-star game or two in his career.

If we pick 16 .....I guess he is who I'd pick ..everybody I think is good goes before 10..if Upshaw is just nothing but a big drug bust.

Rather have Frank than Dekker ....then trade KO off

I guess he is decent value at 16 (with other mocks having him higher).  It just seems like such a blah / stuck in neutral pick that doesn't impact our rebuild at all.  Then you have zellar / KO / Kam all with 7'-0" tall bodies, but no one with any bulk to really be a change of pace.  I would echo others in that if we draft Kam then KO is probably history in a trade for someone else.

I guess you could draft Kam and then flip him right away as part of a bigger deal?

Depressing that we're choosing between Kaminsky and Oubre. Sigh. Doubt either would play a lick for awhile..
