Yes, I know he's been injured. Yes, I know he's overpaid. Yes, I know he's opting in.
But did you know Eric Gordon, after returning from his injury, was second in the league in 3pt field goal percentage, only behind Kyle Korver?
So with players with about 200 attempts, Gordon shot 44.8% with 2.5 3PA, and was 4.5% better by emerging as a low key but potential franchise valued player after helping them make the road to the playoffs. While this was his first time to the playoffs, Gordon did not disappoint by averaging 18.5 PPG, 3.8 APG, and averaged 3.3 3PA attempts on 8.0 3PA for 40.6%, which is still impressive.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVNBv8_R3jAI'm not saying Gordon is a max player. Far from it, but Gordon is still 26, and is still coming off a injury riddled year, so there is a possibility the Pelicans are definitely looking to trade him later on during the season. The Pelicans aren't convinced Gordon can be a go to scorer, but he doesn't need to be. Gordon once became a fearless ball handling, tear dropping, foul shooting, and reckless finisher inside the paint.
But the only difference is while Gordon may not get to the foul line as much, he desperately brings one of the most important aspects to the game nowadays. Spot up, and deadly 3 point shooting.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xESiJFUSA3YDanny Ainge has always been interested in him. And while I'm not convinced Bradley is our starting shooting guard, Gordon is the only one that has superstar and Allstar potential. Plus, I think Brad Stevens can unitize Gordon well enough to make up for his offensive/defensive deficiencies.
What does anyone think?
