is this the same hayward who is 35 years old and has a large fork protruding from his back? and why would the celtics want a late first rounder when they have one already?

move along everyone. nothing to see here folks.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

All the things you're saying about Haywood is completely irrelevant. The value is in his contract, nothing else.

Not saying that this trade is of interest to me, but focusing on Haywood the player is pointless in this.

They don't want Thomas. They want a complementary player like Bradley who will play D and hit an open 3 when the defense collapses on James and Irving. The only reason for us to do it would be if we needed the cap space along with either trading or stretching Wallace to sign multiple players. All would have to be an upgrade from Bradley or it would make no sense.

Yea this makes no sense for us. Also AB is worth more than this, when you factor in his skill and contract he is a good chip to have.

They want a playmaker

Evan Turner would work

Evan Turner isn't the level of player they want.

well who do they expect to get for Haywood + 24th pick??  Goodluck finding a player better than Turner

Why is Cleveland looking for facilitators? They have LeBron and Kyrie. They need defense in their backcourt to play alongside Irving.

From the article:

Quote
On their wish list is a facilitating guard they can bring in to either back up or play alongside Kyrie Irving.

Bradley+Turner fits what they want, but Bradley is worth more than what they are offering.

cavs are weird
they want more playmakers
when they already have trouble sharing the ball between lebron and kyrie
not to mention love who is also a good passer

hayward's contract is not bad if they are looking to dump him

we could offer turner as he is a decent playmaker
but C's wont really go for this trade as we already have 4 picks including 2 1st rounders
that is 2 guaranteed rookie contracts
adding another 1st rounder would be 3 guaranteed rookie contracts

celts may talk to cavs about this only to shed haywoods contract and using the 3rd 1st round pick to package to move up.. thus celts create more cap room to sign players and possibly move up in the draft... can trade exceptions be used in this case?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Turner would be a nice player for them, but with such a large contract to trade, they were probably thinking someone with a little more salary. He is obviously worth more than the 24th pick as they are win-now mode and he can do a little of everything. I agree he is more of a 'facilitator' than what they seem to need, but if that's what they want, he fits the bill.

For us, we would have to have a trade already in place - no need for all of these late firsts.

Agreed.  Turner would be a good fit.  I'm not a big AB fan but he's worth more than a late pick and salary cap space.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

If the deal included Mozgov also, maybe that would be a conversation starter.  But as it stands right now, doubt we would make this deal unless we had a separate deal that traded away all of our picks this year to bring in a big name FA.
