Porzingis or Mudiay.

Either would force changes in the rest of our roster, sure.  But either would be a huge upgrade at their position (PF, PG) in talent.   My preference would be Porzingis of the two, but I'd take either.  Mudiay is a mystery man to a lot of folks but if you watch vids of him, his upside is pretty obvious.   He could become one of the most explosive, creative point guards in the NBA.  He's incredibly difficult to stop from penetrating to the hoop and he's got great court vision and is an excellent passer.  Porzingis is potentially a tremendous scorer with both his ability to finish quickly to the rim and his great outside shot.  And he's a very athletic defender who can block shots.  He'd be a great fit for Stevens' system.

I also would not be averse at all to Russell, if he slips to #4.  He'd automatically be our leading scorer right off the bat.

And I'd also be fine with Mario.

I'd be "OK" with Winslow, but this seems a bit high to be taking him.

This is definitely too high to be taking WCS, imho.

This is probably just a pipe dream, though (getting the #4 pick).  And what would the cost be?

Thing is if you look at past drafts, the really valuable picks (in terms of converting to HoFs) are the top five ones. But that's why it's so expensive to move up so high.

I am much less sure about picks 6-10, especially if you are looking for a player that can be used as a building block.

I agree that looking for building blocks makes more sense in the situation we are now: there are plenty of boom or bust guys in the second half of the first round where we pick.

Henzoja is an assassin. But too bad Danny doesn't draft foreign players so he's out. He scouted him and came away impressed but did the same crap with Greek Freak. WCS is way too high at 4. Go Winslow. Mudiay could be a good pick here if Ainge can find a team desperate enough to take Banks 2.0 for a 1st.

Okafor can be a franchise big man.  He was easily the most impressive player in college basketball this year.  I think the death of the inside-scoring big man has been exaggerated.  As teams get better and better at defending the perimeter, having a big man who can punish an opponent inside will become increasingly important. 


If okafor is available the Knicks will select him and not trade the pick

I hope we do not draft him at 4.   Guy is not very athletic and bullied guys in NCAAs. somehow I do not think that will happen as much in the pros.
