Boy, I couldn't disagree more with the OP. I think staying put should be a last resort and only done if the alternative is a bad or sideways trade. It is far better to consolidate our trade assets (primarily picks and future picks) by trading two or three for one better asset.
My favorite would be to do something with the Knicks to get #4. That pick is not going to help Carmelo for a couple of years. They can't wait. There is a combination of picks and players that will get the Knicks to trade the pick, just not sure the Celtics have the players.
The next best would be to go after SAC (#6) or another in the 7-9 range. I believe you can get a pretty good player in this range. Some combination of Bradley, Olynyk, #16, future firsts should be able to be put together to match up with one of these teams. I think it is very possible that we could do something like Bradley and the Dallas 2016 first plus say a future Philly second and keep this years #16 and move up.
If we can't make any of these combinations work, then staying put is certainly not the end of the world. We should still get some talent and you never know, with 4 picks, we might luck into a sleeper.
