When Kelly Oubre was mentioned by Chad Ford I thought crap that's exactly who I don't want on the Celts, and we don't need two Grown men named Kelly on the Celtics, also I don't want Frank the tank cause he reminds me of Olynyk, and I don't want Trey Lyle's, he's skilled but Lazy to me.

what do you think the negatives are for Dekker? DE has him slotted at 16.

Lyles, Portis, Looney. We already have way too many power forwards on our team, let alone undersized, below the rim ones. Also, with the exception of Looney, none of those players have particularly high upside, which is what I think DA should be looking for at this point.

Oubre simply because we already have him on our team (Young).

JR Hunter - I don't need a SG whose claim to fame is he's a great shooter but can't shoot 40% in his last year in college.

Sam Dekker - Another limited, role playing PF is not what this team needs.

Willie Cauley-Stein (career role player to me), Devin Booker, and Robert Upshaw (in the 1st round).

Also, if we pick Kelly Oubre or Sam Dekker they will make me feel similar to how I do when I eat too many chicken wings at a bar. Very satisfied (because we need wings with upside), but also ready to throw up (because I could see both being total busts).

-Turner - the way he runs is a concern. Little lift from standstill
-Johnson - just dont want to trade up to 8 or 9 for him
-Looney - has asthma. Stamina issue
-Portis - would not hate the pick. But has narrow shoulders. Mediocre to below  avg defensive rebounder

Dekker would feel underwhelming and I'm part of the campaign to not draft Cam Payne (though he'll probably be taken by then anyways). But the 2 players I want nothing to do with are Tyus Jones and Christian Wood. Jones should be a fine enough player, maybe a poor man's Mike Conley but think you can find that player if you need too and he also hasn't played without Jahleel Okafor in years. Who know's how he is without the big fella?

Just don't see it with Christian Wood. There are better PF's than him currently rotting away on benches in the NBA. Has all the physical tools and his shot is better than I first realized but just think there are safer bets in the 16-28 range. Now if he's there at 33 I'd take him and run.

I'm finding it interesting that everyone has taken for granted that Frank Kaminsky has Kelly Olynyk as his ceiling. 

IMO Frank Kiminsky is stronger than Kelly right now, he's more mature, more physical and confident, much more of a team leader, just as good of a shooter, plus he scores inside, he's a better defender, and lead his team to the NCAA finals.

Just because he's 7' and has similarities to KO, doesn't mean he has a ceiling of Kelly Olynyk. Not fair, their not clones.

I have a feeling in a year or two Frank is going to end up the player we had envisioned Kelly would become.   


Oh yeah, I'm not seeing Decker as anyone we should draft either.

-Stanley Johnson - if we're going to pay a king's ransom to move up, let's do it for someone with more upside. SJ can't finish inside, so he'll be relying heavily on his mid-range game

-Miles Turner - too slow to guard quick 4's, too skinny to guard big 5's. Poor interior scorer. A mixed bag on both ends.

I don't have reasons but:

Oubre--would hope he matures and blooms suddenly and has a great motor
Justin Anderson--would hope his intangibles fit great with the Celtics
RJ Hunter--would hope he hits his shots and is better on D than thought
Wood--would hope his motor and IQ are good


As far as players listed by others, I don't mind
Kaminsky
Turner
Dekker

None as stars but as solid guys with something to offer.
