Dekker- I think he'll be a solid backup 3 for years to come, but we need a high risk/high reward guy with star potential
Kaminsky- we don't need a 22 year old unathletic T-rex
Oubre- James Young who thinks he's hot ****

Honorary mention for Porzingis who I'm worried by, but wouldn't be devastated with if we somehow got him.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

The Two Wisconsin guys and Jerian grant, not because he's a bad player but because that means the team doesn't believe in smart

-Stanley Johnson - if we're going to pay a king's ransom to move up, let's do it for someone with more upside. SJ can't finish inside, so he'll be relying heavily on his mid-range game

-Miles Turner - too slow to guard quick 4's, too skinny to guard big 5's. Poor interior scorer. A mixed bag on both ends.

+1

Kaminsky, Dekker, Looney, Wood, Portis, Upshaw, Turner, Hernangomz, McCulloch, T. Jones, Rozier, Osman, Hunter, Wright, Grant, Harrell, Osman, Mudiay, Hezonia, Payne, Porzingis, Jefferson - pick none of them in the first round.

Trill Stein, Booker, Anderson, Vaughn, Oubre, Towns, Okafor, Russell, Johnson or Winslow or bust!

I don't get the Dekker hate.  I can see it I guess for people that want super high upside, but I don't see the guy busting.  He's got great size for a 3, quite athletic, shows potential to be a good shooter, and had good production in college on a great team (that also plays a very structured system that might suppress counting stats a bit).  Not saying he should go in the top 10, but at 16 he seems like a good prospect.

What are people's main issues with him?

I don't hate anyone in the draft.
Some players looks overrated or my gut feeling said they won't improve much.
That's how I feel about the 3 I selected in my previous post.

If KO is still going to be a part of this team's future, then I don't want Kaminsky. He would just be redundant if KO is still here.

I want nothing to do with Kelly Oubre. I just get the feel he won't ever be mentally capable of succeeding at this level.

Kaminsky

Upshaw (unless it's with a second rounder)
I'm bitter.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Three guys...

Dekker - does this guy even have starter potential?  Beats up on some college kids in a system that's perfect for him being Kaminsky 's wingman. Will simply get torched by NBA athletes on a nightly basis. Belongs in the Euroleague.

Upshaw- I wouldn't  wanna use a first rounder on him. 2nd round maybe but he's got addiction and mental issues and those are things that you can't  just  'grow' out of. Andrew Bynum mixed with Royce White...horror show.

Looney- has solid length but I don't think he's put together to succeed at an NBA level. A bit too slow mentally in some areas and again, someone who's size makes him much more appealing  vs college chumps who are a step slower and less skilled.

My wildcard is Stanley Johnson. It's not that I hate him, but I'm worried that we'll  give up way too much for him if we move up to get him. I don't  think he's got much more of a ceiling and he's looking more and more like a defensive role player at the next level. He does have heart+ work ethic but there are other guys in the top 8-10 who I'd  much rather have.
I guess people said the same thing about Jimmy Butler too so I may be completely wrong.
Is Stanley Johnson ever going to give you more than 14 points, 4 rebounds a game?

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
