No one is over 6'8" tall on either team tonight do we make too much of a big deal about ShotBlocker's. Is it more about getting the best five basketball players you can find.

these teams feature the best player on the planet and the league MVP this year.

You can color outside the lines a little bit when filling out your roster when you have players like these.  I do agree though that all the whole rim protector nonsense is overblown

Because on one team they have LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love while the other team has Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

In case you missed it buddy Irving and love are out for the season so your argument is not really valid

We need to add shot blocking, but it is often overblown on this board. The more important spot we need filled is a dynamic 2-way wing player who can get to the line as well as defend the Lebron's of the world.

I think having a "rim protector" is still important, though it's hard to get one on the floor against a team with LeBron.

As D.o.s. said in the game thread, you really need everybody on the floor to be a threat on both ends.

And how did these small teams play against bigger teams? Both Cavs and GSW lost 2 each to Memphis and Chicago. The reason they won was because of the world class players on each team.

Cough Mozgov?  1.2 BPG is not shabby folks.

Is it elite shot blocking? No.   But he has size and creates problems for the other team.  Same could be said of Bogut.  But he is an even better shot blocker at 1.7 BPG.

Bogut is 7th in BPG and Mozgov is 9th in the playoff, when you consider all the teams and players that is not bad.

Speaking of an inability to read, OP said 'starting', which Bogut and Mozgov, this game, did not.
 ;)

Generally speaking, I agree: this is just as much a knee jerk as the "where was Mozgov when the Celtics were fishing" threads after Game 4.

Id say this, GS wouldn't even be in the finals this year if they didn't have Bogut to play against Davis, Gasol, Randolph and Dwight. The Cavs just dont have post scoring Big Man thats why the GS can play its small ball lineup, which frees their spacing.

Rofl you're right. I totally forgot, but yeah the Warriors double teamed him and he passed the ball to Curry which wound up getting him benched.
