Now that Embiid "suffered a setback" with his foot, Is Porzingis a lock for the 3rd pick if Towns and Okafor are picked?

I saw the workout video, and my Lord, I am now sold. Love how this kid moves on the floor. He's skilled all around and he's got fluid motion.

So is Embiid available now?  ;)

I would think so, sell high now while he still has some value. This Jones fracture of his is becoming a problem. I can see NYK trading the 4th pick for him. With that I can see Philly picking up Porzingis and Mudiay. I'm kind of torn on them picking up Russel because of the meaning of the workout cancellation.

Lakers very high on Porzingis; might consider him over Okafor or Karl-Anthony Towns.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think LA Lakers should probably draft him. I hope Philly drafts a big just for the lawls :P Porzingis would fit perfectly with Noel or Embiid tho. Okafor would not fit with Noel or Embiid as good because there would be not enough spacing.

so much misdirection coming out around Philly right now.  Everything I have read about them suggest they want DeAngelo Russell as he'd be an ideal fit with Noel and Embiid.   But there's now a risk that one of the top 2 teams will snag Russell for themselves or trade down with the Knicks.   It'll be interesting to see what happens.

This is why I wish we would trade for the 4th pick. Using IT as a starting point and taking back JC.

My reading of the situation is that Philly loves Russell and how he fits into their team but they are undecided if he is the BPA.

Philly are still looking for players with the most star potential rather than fit.

They want whoever they think has the most upside. That isn't necessarily Russell. Russell is the safe choice rather than their #1 choice. I think they are doing their due diligence on Mudiay and whether he has more potential than Russell. Then Porzingis (next Dirk?) who is incredibly impressive. Then there is Okafor who might become available if LA takes Porzingis. So I think they like Russell and rate him highly but are not (yet) convinced he is the most talented player available. Great fit but not necessarily the best talent ... and Philly are still in the talent over fit stage of their development.

Fit is not a deciding factor. If a guy is more talented but a bad fit, he is the one they are taking.

Yep, which is why there is no 'misdirection' as LB33 implied. The reality is that Embiid , who hasn't played for over a year because of injury, still isn't healthy and will miss summer league at least. This is a terrible sign for a guy who teams had legit long term health concerns about before he was drafted. He hasn't played much basketball compared to most guys his age, and his body is already breaking down. It is unlikely he will hold up over multiple 82 game seasons imo.

If you believe that teams can control what information and when is released, why would the 76ers let this out at this time?  Philly has done some strange things so who knows what they may be up to.  I would think that no matter what the condition of Embiid, they are going to take the player they see as the best and sort out the depth chart later.

In terms of the Celtics trading for Embiid?  I don't think the Celtics can afford to risk assets on such a high-bust potential player right now (I am assuming they have to give up pretty good value for Embiid).  He certainly still has the potential to be a star, franchise player but after a year since being a risky draft pick, he has only gotten more risky.  I guess as with any trade, it depends on what you give up.

Here's why not to trust draft rumors:

Quote
Latvian big man Kristaps Porzingis is in play for for the Sixers with the third pick, and is giving the Lakers something to ponder with the second pick, and he's also in the mix for the Knicks, who would be doing backflips in their war room if they got D'Angelo Russell, which they probably won't because he's the guy Philadelphia is targeting, and he may also have a promise that the Lakers will draft him, though if the Lakers go with a guard, they're still considering Emmanuel Mudiay, who has some voices high on him in the Knicks' front office, and is also liked by the Sixers, who wouldn't let Jahlil Okafor drop if he was available to them, unless they do, in which case the Knicks may look elsewhere because they are big Justise Winslow fans, and are looking strongly at Willie Cauley-Stein, and are enamored with Trey Lyles, although the consensus is they are actively trying to trade their fourth pick, but the consensus is they ultimately won't, but if they do they could trade down for Frank Kaminsky, but anyway the Sixers won't get a chance at Okafor because the Lakers are locked in on him.

I'm seeing a lot of threads about trading up for WCS or Porzingis, as it fills one of our needs, a center, but what about our other need, SF? What about trading up for Winslow instead?

A lot of users here wants to trade up for Winslow. Other want Johnson, and finally many are ok with Anderson.
But Danny said he like Mario few weeks ago. So anything is possible at SF position too.
