Hey CB, I have to get something off my chest. It's driving me absolutely nuts when i see Karl-Anthony Towns go #1 over Jahlil Okafor in virtually every major media outlets mock drafts. I have no doubt that Towns will be a very good nba player for years to come because he's a two-way bigman with a sturdy frame and high motor.IMO he will be an all star caliber player and I would definitely welcome him to the Celtics with open arms and a huge smile lol.

With that said, I truly believe Okafor has the potential to be the next T.Duncan,H.Olajuwon, or at the very least a much better Al Jefferson. He has a myriad of post moves, spin moves and counter moves and he establishes deep position in the paint. He has the offensive skill to be an all-time great. He's a very good passer and patient on double teams, which he'll surely encounter at the next level. He has ideal size for an NBA center at 6'11 272 lbs, to go with a 7'5 wingspan and 9'2 standing reach. Not to mention his defense is looked at as an afterthought, but his one season at Duke produced 1.4 bpg and .8 spg.

Towns was outplayed by Frank Kaminsky in the Final Four, while Okafor dominated nearly every matchup all season and proceeded to win the championship against Kaminsky and the badgers.Okafor has been the best player on the floor every time he's stepped foot since like 8th grade and I cant see any level of basketball being too much to handle. Minnesota cant go wrong with either pick, but I believe if they pass on Jahlil Okafor they are passing on a Hall of Fame player. Am I in the minority with this?

I won't go as far as you, but I think he will be the best player out of this draft.  It seems to me that he was the presumptive # 1 pick for so long that people have poked holes in his game.  He has his shortcomings, but so does every college freshman.  I think his defense will be fine in the long run.  He's too tall, long and strong to be a defensive liability.  I think he will improve his free throw shooting and develop a mid range shot as his form looks good.  His combination of low post skills, touch, and passing ability are the best we've seen probably since Duncan.

He was always viewed as the number 1 prospect, I don't know what he did to change peoples' opinion, but I think the experts are just picking nits.
2019 historical draft.  Pick 12

Tim Duncan, Oscar Robertson, Elgin Baylor, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Mitch Richmond, Sam Jones, Dan Majerle, Bob Cousy, Rasheed Wallace, Shawn Kemp, Marcus Camby

I'm with you. One thing about towns he's amazing at the free throw line. That said I'm not passing on a 270 pound 19 year old with that inside game. Last time we saw a play or anything like okafor was DeMarcus Cousins and now we do anything to have him.

Towns has been my guy for the Celtics since last summer. Having watched his game and knowing his potential, Id still take him over Okafor. Towns is a legit 2 way player and will just as good in the post as Okafor..

Okafor is also never going to be a shot blocker.

I'd love to have Towns or Okafor.  Towns is more versatile.  Which ever team gets Okafor really needs to commit to feeding him in the post a lot.  Okafor's passing is going to make him difficult to deal with.  We could have a real big man resurgence if Okafor, Towns and Embiid turn into stars.

I think the best comp is Kevin McHale

Except McHale was a great defender and wasn't particularly known for his passing.

I agree. I am no where near an expert like most people on here are but Okafor to me is the #1 player in this draft. I don't know if he will be as good as Duncan or Hakeem but I think he is without a doubt a player you build around and the best player since Anthony Davis to go pro.

I like Okafor over Towns, too.  I think he'll be elite offensively, and good defensively.  I think he can be as good as Duncan on offense, and something in between he and Jefferson on defense (I realize there's a wide gulf there, major bet hedging, lol), which, in total, is a helluva player.

Towns is the better physical specimen, but Okafor the better player.

Not sure to make of this
As I didn't see much of towns because of the depth of kentuckys front court
If Kentucky only had towns as a good front court player then I'd be able to more accurately compare them

Towns has the potential
but okafor is better right now and is the safer choice

I cant see why he cant be better than McHale. He has great basketball IQ,sure post moves and hes only 19! Imagine what he'll be once he develops his jumper and improves his FT percentage. Basketball people have been waiting for 6 years for this kid and suddenly hes #2 now? It just sounds like media posturing to me possibly by the Lakers lol

I agree the FT thing is tough. Hack-a-Okafor would be bad for an offensively oriented player. Hed have virtually no impact if he couldnt hit the FT, whereas deandre jordan and dwight howard would def make a defensive impact regardless. But yeah I'd trade both 1sts this year, Jared Sullinger, and 2 1sts next year for him.( Dallas and Minnesotas pick) I know im going hard for Okafor but theyre all picks that wont be lottery most likely
